Base Class: Paladin
Paladins take an Oath of Judgement to banish the world of sin. Sin is wrought in the world and Paladins of Judgment are appointed by certain parties for this cause. Paladins of Judgement are blind to bias and are privy to those who have sinned and will execute them if necessary. Otherwise they will strive to change their ways with execution as punishment. Paladins of Judgement must be neutral but can vary between lawful and chaotic. They have a holy patron who's moral code tends to align with theirs: Erathis (Lawful), Avandra (Chaotic), Melora (Neutral). Other holy patrons are less common but do exist along the spectrum of Lawful to Chaotic.
TENETS OF JUDGEMENT
A paladin who takes this oath has the tenets of tattooed on the back of the neck.
Eliminate Prejudice. One's fate is dependent on their actions, not their caste, creed or race. The judgement you pass must not be influenced by these factors and purely reflect the actions of an individual.
Punish the Sinner. Your duty is to instil morality in the populations you interact with. You must punish individuals according to their sins. Use force only as required.
Execute the Deserving. Those few who have sinned past the point of no return are not worthy of their lives anymore. It is your duty to stamp out sin in your realm of jurisdiction or anywhere else should you find it.
Oath Spells
You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed in the Oath of Judgement Spells table. See the Sacred Oath class feature for how oath spells work.
Oath of Judgement Spells
| Paladin Level | Spells |
|---|---|
| 3rd | bane, bless |
| 5th | branding smite, prayer of healing |
| 9th | beacon of hope, fear |
| 13th | guardian of faith, resilient sphere |
| 17th | contagion, mass cure wounds |
Channel Divinity
When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options. See the Sacred Oath class feature for how Channel Divinity works.
Executioner's Judgement. You can use your Channel Divinity to invoke the power of Avandra (Chaotic), Melora (Neutral) or Erathis (Lawful). You may use a bonus action to see through their eyes. You can see glowing in a coloured aura those who have sinned based on the deity's moral code. You have advantage on attack rolls against them and WIS and CHA saving throws induced by them for 1 minute.
Forced Truth. You can use your Channel Divinity toto invoke the power of Avandra (Chaotic), Melora (Neutral) or Erathis (Lawful). As an action, you may choose a target who understands you and make them roll a WIS saving throw to force them to any questions you ask in a truthful manner for the next ten minutes. On a failed save they must compulsively respond to all questions you ask for the first of these ten minutes. If they succeed they may choose to withhold answers of their own volition for the whole 10 minutes. If your deity is Avandra (Chaotic) your action charms the target. If your deity is Erathis (Lawful), your action frightens the target. If your deity is Melora (Neutral), you may choose. Your target reacts as if being charmed or frightened by a spell. They know after ten minutes that they have been magically charmed or frightened.
Aura of Neutrality
Starting at 7th level you impose an aura of neutrality on creatures within a 10 foot radius. Creatures other than yourself within this radius cannot gain advantage or disadvantage on attack rolls, saving throws or ability checks through an action, ability or by the effects of their own or another creature's magic items. Permanent instances of advantage or disadvantage due to features of a creature's class, subclass or race are not affected by this aura.
At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30ft.
Sinner's Curse
At 15th Level you gain proficiency in insight. Furthermore, your insight checks allow you to identify a creature's aura. A creature's aura reveals the extent of their sins based on your own moral code. As an action, you may punish them for their sins:
Roll a dX. The target takes that many dXs of radiant or necrotic damage depending on your deity. If your deity is Erathis (Lawful) deal necrotic damage. If your deity is Avandra (Chaotic) deal radiant damage. If your deity is Melora (Neutral) choose either necrotic or radiant damage.
| X | Extent of Sin |
|---|---|
| X = 4 | If they have sinned only mildly. |
| X = 6 | If they have sinned to a fair extent |
| X = 8 | If they have sinned greatly |
X = 10 or 12 can be used against creatures who have sinned to an even greater extent at the discretion of your DM.
This ability can be used against any one creature once per day.
Executioner Incarnate
Possessed by the power of your deity, for one minute you become the ultimate executioner incarnate. Your movement speed increases by 10 feet and you emit bright light in a 30ft radius (dim light in a 60ft radius). You gain immunity to both radiant and necrotic damage. All your weapon attacks deal additional damage: If your deity is Avandra (Chaotic) the damage is radiant. If your deity is Erathis (Lawful) the damage is necrotic. If your deity is Melora, you may choose either (Neutral). Damage is calculated by first rolling a dX and rolling that number of dXs. X is equal to the type of dice that the weapon attack uses. For example, if the weapon is a dagger, X = 4 since a dagger uses a d4 to calculate damage.
