Monk
Base Class: Monk

Monks of the Way of the Immortal Mountain hone their bodies into a near-perfect vessel for their ki. They learn how to wield heavier arms with grace, fortify their bodies against harm, and break the wills of their foes.

Arms of the Immortal

When you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you become proficient with arms others may find unwieldy for their weight, and master their implementation as an extension of yourself. You gain the following benefits.

Immortal Weapons. You gain proficiency with Martial Weapons, and Melee Weapons with the two-handed or versatile properties are now considered Immortal Weapons. These weapons are monk weapons for you. Many of this tradition's features only work with your immortal weapons.

Thunderous Ki. When you spend a ki point on your Flurry of Blows, Patient Defense, or Step of the Wind and are holding an immortal weapon, you can make a melee weapon attack as a part of the bonus action. You can do this a number of times equal to your wisdom modifier (minimum of once). You regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Ways of Heaven and Earth. You gain proficiency in your choice of calligrapher's supplies or mason's tools.

Heavenly Thunder

At 6th level, you extend your ki into your immortal weapons and master their use as extensions of your self, granting you the following benefits.

Magic Immortal Weapons. Your attacks with your immortal weapons count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage.

Extended Strikes. When you are holding an immortal weapon with the reach property, your reach for your unarmed strikes is 5 feet greater than normal.

Crashing Thunder. When a creature ends it's movement within 30 ft of you, you may spend 1 ki point to move up to half your speed towards them as a reaction. If the creature is within your range at the end of this movement, you may make a weapon attack as part of this reaction. You can also attempt a stunning strike as part of this attack for no additional ki point cost.

Immutable Forms

When you reach 6th level in this class, you learn two martial forms created as the foundation of this tradition. You may activate one form as a bonus action on your turn, and additionally may activate or change to the other form whenever you spend a ki point. Your forms last for 1 minute. They end early if you are knocked unconscious or if you choose to activate the other form.

Form of the Mountain. Specialized in inward control of your ki, you become a bulwark, and gain the following benefits for its’ duration:

  • Resistance to nonmagical bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage.
  • Advantage on saves against being pushed, knocked Prone, Grappled, or Restrained.

Form of the Bull. Specialized in outward release of your ki, you become a ram, and gain the following benefits for its’ duration:

  • Immunity to magical and nonmagical difficult terrain.
  • Advantage on saves against being pushed, Charmed, Stunned, or Frightened.

You can activate either form a total number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and regain all uses at the end of a long rest. These forms improve as you gain levels in this class.

Intimidating Visage

When you reach 11th level in this class, your mastery of body is an imposing display to behold. While either immutable form is active, certain actions invoke fear in your enemies. When you:

  • Hit an enemy with an attack from your flurry of blows feature
  • Stun an enemy with your stunning strike feature
  • Reduce the damage of a ranged attack using your deflect missiles feature
  • Successfully avoid damage from an effect that subjected you to a dexterity saving throw with your evasion feature

Requiring no action, you can force the creature you hit, stunned, deflected or evaded, as well as every creature of your choice within 15 ft of you to make a Wisdom saving throw against your Ki save DC. A creature who fails this saving throw becomes frightened of you for one minute or until they take damage from you or an allied creature. A creature who has been frightened by this feature once in this combat has advantage on the save. A creature who has succeeded on the saving throw against this feature is immune to this feature's effects for the next 24 hours. This feature can only be activated once per turn.

Improved Forms

At 11th level, you gain additional benefits while under the effects of your forms.

Earthen Bulwark. While under the effects of the Form of the Mountain, you gain advantage on all Constitution saving throws.

Heavenly Ram. While under the effects of the Form of the Bull, whenever you hit a creature with an immortal weapon, you can cause the weapon to deal extra damage to the target equal to your Martial Arts die. You can deal this additional damage once per turn.

Thunderous Strikes. While under the effects of either form, if your immortal weapon has the versatile property, you may use the versatile damage die for one-handed attacks with the weapon.

Forms of Perfection

At 17th level, your mastery of form has reached its apex, and both of your forms gain major improvements.

Form of Ninhursag. While under the effects of your Form of the Mountain, you gain the following benefits:
You gain resistance to all damage types except psychic and bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing from Adamantine weapons.
Whenever you take damage from any attack or effect, you may spend a ki point and use your reaction to reduce the damage in the same fashion as your Deflect Missiles feature. Reducing damage in this way also triggers your Intimidating Visage feature against the target who attacked you or created the damaging effect if they can see you.

Form of Enkidu. While under the effects of your Form of the Bull, you gain the following benefits:
When you hit a creature with an immortal weapon or unarmed attack, you can spend 2 ki points to strike the target with irresistible force, adding an extra 1d10 + your Dexterity modifier + your Monk level of the same damage type to the attack. You can use this feature only once on each of your turns.
