Base Class: Monk
In the heart of every storm lies a serene center, a place untouched by the chaos of the elements. Such is the essence of the Way of the Phoenix, where the flames of adversity forge a monk's spirit into an unyielding inferno of resilience and renewal. Monks who embrace the Way of the Phoenix follow the same path, where every trial becomes a stepping stone, every setback a chance to rise from the ashes, stronger, and fiercer than before. They walk this path to let the flames of their inner fire illuminated the darkness, guiding themselves towards enlightenment and transcendence,
Wayward Flame
At 3rd level, your inner flame is released and has an uncontrollable reaction. Once per turn, you can choose to augment an attack. That attacked deals an additional martial arts die + your Wisdom modifier fire damage.
Flame Adept
At 3rd level, you become attuned with flames and understand how to create and control them. You learn the produce flame and control flames cantrips. Your saves and DC are oriented around your wisdom.
Blaze Born
At 6th level, you tether to your fiery patron/entity strengthens and you gain the following benefits.
- Will of Flame: You are resistant to fire damage.
- Combustive Strike: When you damage a target with an unarmed strike, you can change the damage type to fire or force.
- Tongue of Flame: You learn to speak, read, and write Ignan (Primordial) or one other language of your choice if you already speak Ignan.
Ignite Soul
At 6th level, your ki abilities are augmented and grant additional affects at the cost of another ki point.
- When your Flurry of Blows lands, you heal for 1/2 of the damage dealt
- When a creature misses you with a melee attack or melee spell attack roll while you are in Patient Defense, the target takes 2d8 fire damage
- When you use Step of the Wind to dash, your speed is doubled and all opportunity attacks have disadvantage against you
Talons of the Phoenix
Starting at 11th level, you can use your action to call upon the source of your flame driven power, causing your form to glow, your eyes to erupt in a magical flame, as well as causing incorporeal ashen wings to sprout from your back and talons to form on the ends of your limbs.
- Your transformation lasts for 1 minute or until you end it as a free action. During it, your body lights up 15 ft. of bright light and 15 ft. beyond that of dim light, you have a flying speed equal to your walking speed and once on each of your turns, your Wayward Flame deals extra fire damage equal to your monk level.
- Once you use this trait, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest or spend 5 ki points to activate it again.
Ashen Rebirth
At 17th level, The blessings of the phoenix have granted you the power of undeath, you can be reborn in ash and flames upon dying and do so in an inferno.
Upon death, you are revived at full hitpoints and release a burst of fire energy around you. Any creature within 10 ft. of the space in which you died must make a Dexterity Saving Throw or take 4d10 fire damage or half as much on a success.
Once you this ability is used, you can’t use it again until a week has passed.
