Base Class: Bard
This subclass and it's name is a work in progress, but it's my attempt at a Heavy Metal themed necromancy bard subclass. A subclass with a focus on necromancy and a secondary focus on fire (cause Heavy Metal).
I'm posting this cause I want feedback,
What works? What doesn't work? What can be improved? What should be changed? Is there any wording that's confusing? E.t.c.
Thank you for checking it out and thank you for your help :D
(Ps. I am very new to this website and haven't figured out how to do everything in here yet, but I want to figure it out on my own.)

Dance of Death
At 3rd level, You can as an action cause a corpse or pile of bones to animate as a head banging undead that you can control, this effect requires concentration (as if concentrating on a spell) and can last for up to 30 minutes. The head banging undead counts as an undead, the targeted corpse or pile of bones must be from a humanoid that is medium or smaller size, this ability fails if the challenge rating of the creature is equal to or higher than your bard level. A pile of bones will create a skeleton and a corpse will create a zombie.
You control the head banging undead through music and can use a bonus action or action (your choice) on your turn to use the music to issue a command to your head banging undead, you can decide where it will go and what it will do on it's next turn or give it a general command, such as to guard a chamber or passageway against your foes. If you don't give the head banging undead a command then it will do nothing except defend itself against hostile creatures, if nothing attacks it then it'll simply continue to head bang to your music. Once given an order, the head banging undead will continue to follow it until their task is complete. In order to command the head banging undead it must be able to hear you.
When the 30 min duration ends or if you end the effect prematurely with an action, the head banging undead will go up in flame, if it's a zombie then the flames will burn away it's flesh and turn it into a pile of bones, if it's a skeleton the flames will burn it into a pile of ash. The head banging undead doesn't seem to notice the flames and simply continues to head bang as the flames consumes it.
Once you’ve used this feature you can’t use it again until you’ve finished a long rest
Hellrider
At 6th level, Any undead that you summon, create or raise become lit with spectral flames when you summon, create or raise them with a spell or bard class feature.
Whilst the undead creatures are lit they gain the following benefits:
- They’re attacks deal extra fire damage equal to 1 roll of your bardic inspiration die.
- They gain fire resistance
- They’re attacks are counted as magical for overcoming resistances.
Die Young
At 14th level As an action, choose a number of undead that you control (up to a maximum of 4), they begin to glow and burn brightly with grim dark light pouring out of their eyes, mouths and other holes and cracks on their bodies. They then after a brief instance explode, killing the chosen undead and reducing their corpses to ash.
Any creature within 5 feet of any of the exploding undead must make a dexterity saving throw against your spell Save DC or take fire damage equal to 5 rolls of your bardic inspiration die.
If a creature is caught in more than 1 explosion (for example if a creature stood between two undead and both explode) then the creature will only be affected by 1 of the explosions, as in they only make 1 dex save and only take 5 die rolls of damage on a fail despite being caught in two explosions.
Once you’ve detonated 4 undead with this ability, you won’t be able to use it again until you’ve finished a long rest.
