Base Class: Artificer
Augmenters are artificers who use their magic to enhance their allies physical abilities for short periods of time, whether it be improving the effectiveness of their gear, boosting their strength, or repairing their wounds.
Tool Proficiency
When you adopt this specialization at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with smith's tools. If you already have this proficiency, you gain proficiency with one other type of artisan's tools of your choice.
Augmenter Spells
Starting at 3rd level, you always have certain spells prepared for you after you reach particular levels in this class, as shown by the Augmenter Spells table below. These spells count as artificer spells for you, but don't count against the number of spells you prepare.
| Augmenter Spells | |
|---|---|
| Artificer Level | Augmenter Spells |
| 3rd | Bless, Find Familiar |
| 5th | Knock, Pass without Trace |
| 9th | Beacon of Hope, Sending |
| 13th | Death Ward, Polymorph |
| 17th | Hallow, Modify Memory |
Augment Equipment
Augment Equipment: Starting at 3rd level, you can utilize your infusion magic faster, but it ends earlier. As a bonus action, you may give a creature you can see within 30 feet of you, other than yourself, one of the following magical augmentations. This augmentation lasts until the end of the next round, and a creature can only be affected by one augmentation at a time.
- 1: The target gains a bonus to their melee attack rolls equal to your Intelligence modifier.
- 2: The target gains a +2 bonus to their AC.
- 3: The target's speed increases by 10 feet.
- 4: The target regains an amount of hit points equal to twice your proficiency bonus at the start of their turn.
- 5: One of the target's ability scores increases by 2. The ability score is chosen randomly through a d6 roll that corresponds to each ability score in order, and this ability cannot raise the ability score over 22.
- 6: The target gains proficiency in a chosen skill. Their proficiency bonus is doubled for any check they make for the chosen skill.
You may use this ability an amount of times equal to your Intelligence modifier. You regain all expended uses on a long rest.
Augmented Focus
Starting at 5th level, whenever you finish a long rest, you can augment a spellcasting focus to grant an additional effect whenever it’s used. Whenever a spell that deals no damage is cast through the focus, if the target is a friendly creature, it gains a bonus to attack rolls and saving throws equal to your proficiency bonus for the duration of the spell, or until the end of their next turn if the spell is instantaneous. If the target is a hostile creature, it must make a Wisdom saving throw or take a penalty to their attack rolls and saving throws equal to half of your proficiency bonus until the end of their next turn. Only one focus can be augmented in this way. If you attempt to augment a second focus, the first reverts to how it was before.
Enhanced Augmentations
Starting at 9th level, whenever you use your Augment Equipment feature, each augmentation grants an additional effect, as shown below.
- 1: The target's ranged attacks gain the bonus as well.
- 2: The target gains resistance to one damage type of your choice from the following list: Force, Thunder, Fire, Lightning, Acid, or Cold.
- 3: The target gains a speed of 30 feet of a movement type they do not currently have.
- 4: The target gains an amount of temporary hit points at the end of their turn equal to the amount of hit points restored on their turn.
- 5: This benefit may affect two ability scores of your choice. The second ability score gains an increase of 1 instead of 2.
- 6: This benefit may also affect saving throws, as long as the creature is conscious. If it does, this benefit does not double their proficiency bonus.
Superior Augmentations
Starting at 15th level, your augmentations become even more powerful. Any creature affected by your Augment Equipment feature retains the benefit for 1 minute, and you may affect an additional creature with each expended use. All other rules of your Augment Equipment feature apply.
