Monk
Base Class: Monk

The Way of the Sightless is an order of monks who devote themselves to training each sense left to them to masterful perfection. Each member is blinded, either by birth or by ritual, and this gives them access to grander sights any with eyes could dream of. They experience their surroundings in much more detail than if they had simply 'seen' it. Followers of the Way of the Sightless do not typically gather in grand monasteries to recite their creeds. Instead, once a Monk has developed enough ability to take on the world without their eyes, they tend to blend in where they are needed most. Most adopt disguises that make use of their blind nature to put their foes off guard, and strike from shadows when they are needed. Who would believe an old blind man was responsible for beating up an entire gang of thieves anyway?

Heightened Senses

At 3rd level and as a prerequisite for joining this order, you must be blinded. Whether by birth or by event, you have lost the use of your eyes. This provides three unique benefits as you are opened up to the world in a whole new manner.

  • You acquire Blindsense 30 feet through training of all of your other senses and gain proficiency in Perception. You also have advantage on Investigation checks utilizing hearing, touch, smell, or taste within that range. At 6th level your Blindsense increases to 60 feet, and at 11th level it increases to 90 feet.
  • By touching a source of writing for one minute, you get a sense of what concepts the author was trying to convey, regardless of what languages you know and what language the author wrote in. It takes up to one minute per page, and if you focus on the cover of a book or long script for a minute, you can learn one minor fact about the author's emotions or overall intent at the time of its inscription. Automated printing or creation via Construct reveals nothing.
  • Your newfound ability to see the world without eyes has honed your reflexes and gets heightened when you tap into your ki. Whenever you use a ki point during your turn you become keenly aware of all threats to you. Creatures within your Blindsense who aren't hidden from you have disadvantage to attack you until the start of your next turn.

Shatterpoint

At 6th level you are able to project your Ki into your foe and discover their vulnerabilities with your extraordinary senses. When you use the attack action on your turn you are able to expend up to 5 ki points. All your attacks up to the number of ki points you spent are made at advantage. Also, the next successful attack you make against that target takes normal weapon damage, damage equal to half your monk level, and adds a number of martial arts dice to the damage equal to the number of ki points you expended. You may use this feature only once per turn.

Adaptive

Beginning at 11th level, at the end of a Long Rest you may meditate for 1 minute to focus your body and mind on the tasks you plan on overcoming for the day. Monks who have come before you impart their wisdom through the energy that binds existence together, augmenting your abilities. Until the end of your next Long Rest you gain expertise in a skill you are proficient in, proficiency in two different Monk skills, or proficiency in a non-Monk skill.

A World On Fire

At 17th level, your ability to sense your surroundings advances to a new height, granting you extraordinary clarity and ability.

  • You are unable to be surprised in combat while conscious due to a prescient sense of impending conflict. This also imparts a bonus to your initiative roll equal to your wisdom modifier.
  • Your finely honed reflexes allow you to overwhelm your opponents quickly. When you attack a creature that hasn't had a turn yet on your first turn in combat, you are able to make 3 attacks with the attack action instead of 2. Only 1 of the 3 attacks has to be against that first creature.
  • As an action you may expend 4 ki points on your turn and gain Truesight 90 feet for up to 10 minutes. You may cancel this at any time without expending an action, or expend another 4 ki points to extend this by another 10 minutes. You may activate this once per Long Rest.
