Wizard
Base Class: Wizard

Craft and scribe like no other can, creating exactly what you need long before you know you’ll need it.

Magnum Opus

Starting at the 2nd level, you begin to tap into the power of parchment and quill. When crafting a spell scroll, you can designate that scroll as your Magnum Opus. You reduce the amount of time needed and gold cost by half, but you can only create one scroll at a time like this. Until your single Magnum Opus is used up or destroyed, you cannot use this feature again. Once your Magnum Opus is used up, you cannot use this feature again until you take a long rest. The minimum you can reduce the time and gold cost to is 1 day, and 20 gold.

If you use this feature on a scroll of first level or lower, you can instead increase the gold cost to 50 gold and create this scroll in 1 hour as part of a short rest.

Social Scrolls

Also at the second level, Whenever you create a spell scroll using your Magnum Opus feature you may choose to make it more accessible and easy to interpret. Anyone who can read the language in which you write it can use it using their action, just as if they were a wizard using a spell scroll. Whenever someone other than you uses a Magnum Opus scroll you created, it uses your spellcasting ability, but they may choose the targets and other effects of the spell. However, another creature can only read and use a scroll that is as powerful as half your highest level spell slot, rounded down, to a minimum of 1.

Regardless of how many uses of your Magnum Opus feature you have, you can only create one social scroll.

Scroll Expert

At the 6th level, whenever you cast a scroll you have created, you can choose to make an Arcana Check equal to your wizard Spell Save DC + the level of the spell in the scroll. On a successful check, you cast the spell without expending a spell slot or destroying the scroll. You cannot use this feature with a scroll of 4th level or higher. You can use this feature an amount of times equal to your proficiency bonus.

Scroll Master

Whenever you reach 10th level, you’ve begun to understand an underlying mechanism inside all spell scrolls. You may use spell scrolls containing spells from other classes' spell lists. In addition, you may create one additional Magnum Opus scroll using your Magnum Opus feature. However, this scroll must contain a spell that is no more than half the level (rounded up) of your highest level spell slot.

Memorized Writings

At 14th level, you may use a spell scroll as a bonus action instead of as an action. If the scroll in question has a casting time longer than one action, you shorten it to half of it’s typical casting time. You can use this ability a number of times equal to your Intelligence Modifier (minimum of 1), and once you run out you may not use it again until you take a short or long rest.
