Sorcerer
Base Class: Sorcerer

It might be the blood of the All-Father or All-Mother that runs in your veins, or the blessing of one of the gods of giant kind, or even simply the way your soul was constructed. Regardless of how it happened, your soul is connected to the hierarchy of true giant-kind, known as the Ordning. In the hierarchy of giants, there is only one thing that matters, martial power. And while your mystic connection to the hierarchy gives you access to more magic than the typical giant can cast, the fighting prowess of giant-kind boosts your own. Grow your power and raise your strength to each rank of the Ordning to claim ultimate power. Will you use it to stand at the pinnacle of power or use that power to shatter the system?

{Creator's note: this is my first homebrew, so I have No idea how balanced or viable this is. I think I did a decent job of not making it broken beyond belief, but criticism is welcome and encouraged}

Hill Hardiness

Beginning at 1st level, you can channel the fortitude of the Hill giants to boost your vitality. Once per turn, as a free action, you can spend a spell slot to grant yourself a number of temp HP equal to your CHA modifier + twice your Sorcerer Level (Minimum 2 temporary hit point). These temp hp last a number of rounds equal to the spent spell slot's level. On the turn you activate this ability, you cannot cast a spell of the same level or higher as the spent spell slot.

Fire Foundation

At 1st level, your connection to the soldiers of Fire Giant kind has allowed you to acquire the training necessary to effectively arm yourself for battle. You gain proficiency with light armor, shields, and martial weapons.

Additionally, the influence of The Ordning also allows you to mystically channel your will through a particular weapon. Whenever you finish a long rest, you can touch one weapon that you are proficient with and that lacks the two-handed property. When you attack with that weapon, you can use your Charisma modifier, instead of Strength or Dexterity, for the attack and damage rolls. This benefit lasts until you finish a long rest.

Stone Suavity

At 1st level, your connection to the Ordning has tapped into the surprisingly elegant culture of the Stone Giants. You gain a bonus tool proficiency of your choice and the ability to speak, read, and write Giant.

Frost Ferocity

Beginning at 6th level, you have proved yourself worthy in the metaphysical eyes of the Ordning to attain the fighting spirit of the Frost Giants. You can attack twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn. Moreover, once per turn you can cast one of your cantrips in place of one of those attacks.

Cloud Cunning

Beginning at 14th level, you have gained a deep enough connection to The Ordning that you can emulate the instinctual illusory magic of the Cloud Giants. As a reaction when you are hit by an attack, you can spend a spell slot to increase your AC by your Cha modifier (minimum +1). When this ability is used, a critical hit is no longer an automatic hit (though if the attack bypasses the modified AC, damage dice are still doubled). This effect lasts for a number of rounds equal to the level of the spell slot spent. You cannot activate this ability again until the effect ends.

Storm Sovereignty

Beginning at 18th level, you have attained the ability to emulate the most powerful of mortal giant kind, the exalted Storm Giants. As a bonus action, you magically gain the following benefits, which last for 1 minute:

  • If you are smaller than Large or Huge, you become Large or Huge (chosen when this ability is used), along with anything you are wearing. If you lack the room to become Large, your size doesn’t change. You cannot choose to become Huge if you lack the requisite space.
  • You can add your Charisma modifier to all Strength checks and Strength Saving Throws.
  • Once on each of your turns, one of your attacks with a weapon or an unarmed strike can deal an extra 1d10 damage to a target on a hit.
  • If your size is Huge, your reach increases by 5 feet.

You can use this feature 6 times per long rest and you regain all expended uses of it when you finish a long rest.
