Recognizing the innate power of extraplanar beings, some monks have aspired to channel the strengths of the creatures from beyond the material plane.

Meditation Beyond the Material

Your connection beyond the material plane provides additional training beyond that of other monasteries. You gain the following benefits:

Non-Material Training. You gain proficiency in history and religion checks.

Tongue of Outer Planes. You learn to speak, read, and write two additional languages.

Planar Training

At 3rd level, choose your first aspect of the outer planes that you will inherit. You gain unique training that reflects your selection.

Feywild

When a hostile creature ends its turn within 5 feet of you, you can magically teleport to an unoccupied space within 30 feet of you. When you reappear, you are invisible until the start you next turn. This ability can be used once per short rest.

Lower Planes

Your connection to the lower planes allows you to channel the ferocity of the lower planes. At the beginning of your turn, you can use this feature to add your wisdom modifier when determining the damage for your unarmed attacks. This feature can be used once per short rest.

Shadowfell

When a creature reduces you to 0 hit points and not killed outright, you are instead reduced to 1 hit point. Additionally, the creature that targeted you takes psychic damage equal to your monk level + your wisdom modifier. This ability can be used once per short rest.

Upper Planes

Your connection to the upper planes allows you to channel your ki into a protective barrier. When a creature hits you with an attack roll, you can use your reaction to add your wisdom modifier to your armor class until the start of your next turn, potentially turning the attack into a miss. This ability can be used once per short rest.

Gift of the Planes

At 6th level, choose a second aspect of the outer planes that you will inherit. You gain physical attributes that reflect your selection.

Feywild

Your meditation beyond the material plane has connected you with the Feywild. When you hit with an attack of opportunity against a creature, you can spend 2 ki points to magically teleport to an unoccupied space within 5 feet of them at the end of their movement.

Lower Planes

Your meditation beyond the material plane has connected you with the lower planes. Your unarmed strikes now do slashing damage. Additionally, when you strike a creature with an unarmed attack, you can expend 1 ki point to roll an additional martial arts die when determining your damage.

Shadowfell

Your meditation beyond the material plane has connected you with the Shadowfell and allows you to channel the essence of your opponents. When you use your flurry of blows feature, you gain temporary hit points equal to your wisdom modifier.

Upper Planes

Your meditation beyond the material plane has connected you with the upper planes. On your turn, you can expend ki points to heal a creature within 30 feet of you as a bonus action. The die used to determine the healing is the same as your martial arts die. The number of dice rolled is equal to the amount of ki points spent. The maximum number of ki points that can be used at one time is equal to your wisdom modifier.

Planar Might

At 11th level, choose a third aspect of the outer planes that you will inherit. You gain physical attributes that reflect your selection.

Feywild

Your connection to the Feywild allows you to beguile creatures like many of the fey. As a bonus action, you can spend 3 ki points to force a creature within 60 feet of you to make a wisdom saving throw against your ki save DC. On a failure, the creature is charmed by you for 1 minute. The creature may repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns.

Lower Planes

Your connection allows you to attack with the relentless vigor of the fiercest fiends. When you score a critical with an unarmed strike, you can make and additional unarmed strike as part of the same attack.

Shadowfell

Your connection to the Shadowfell allows you to channel its dreadful energy to protect yourself. When you use your patient defense feature, you gain resistance to all damage until the start of your next turn.

Upper Planes

Your connection to the upper planes makes you a master of making counter attacks. When a creature misses you with a melee attack, you can use your reaction to make an unarmed strike against the creature that targeted you. If you have already used your reaction, you can spend a ki point to use this feature as an additional reaction.

Soul of the Outer Worlds

At 17th level, choose your final aspect of the outer planes that you will inherit. You can spend 5 ki points to become an avatar of the plane you select.

Feywild

You can spend 5 ki points to mimic the evasive behaviors of the most elusive fey for 1 minute. For the duration, using your flurry of blows feature turns you invisible until the start of your next turn. This ability can be used once per long rest.

Lower Planes

You can spend 5 ki points to become a physical embodiment of the lower planes for 1 minute, allowing you to channel the strength of the lower planes into each strike. For the duration, you gain immunity to fire damage and score a critical on a roll of 19. Additionally, you can reroll a missed unarmed attack once per turn in combat. This ability can be used once per long rest.

Shadowfell

You can spend 5 ki points to embody the Shadowfell for 1 minute. For the duration, when you reduce a creature to 0 hit points using your unarmed strike, you regain a number of ki points equal to one roll of you martial arts die. Additionally, when using your stunning strike feature on an unarmed strike that is made at advantage, the targeted creature has disadvantage on the save. This ability can be used once per long rest.

Upper Planes

You can spend 5 ki points to become as aspect of the upper planes for 1 minute. Spectral wings sprout out from your shoulder and you gain a flying speed equal to your walking speed. Additionally, when you finish your turn with no more than half of your maximum hit points and are not unconscious, you regain hit points equal to one roll of your martial arts die. This ability can be used once per long rest.
