Base Class: Barbarian
Not all Barbarians are embodiments of the forces of nature or even pinnacles of human physicality. Some barbarians are simply gentle souls forged in hardship. These souls have learned to suppress their rage for only moments of truest danger or rage. As such, these barbarians have rages that strike fear in the hearts of those who had known their gentle nature before that point.
Gentle Persona
At 3rd level, you adopt a kind and gentle persona, one that is usually seen as an upstanding or generous member of the community. Select one of the options from below to gain its benefits.
Scientist- You gain proficiency in either Alchemist's Supplies or Tinker's Tools, along with investigation and arcana. Your associated ability score is Intelligence.
Artist- You gain proficiency in either Painter's Supplies, Calligraphy Tools, or Mason's Tools, along with performance and persuasion. Your associated ability score is Charisma.
Priest- You gain proficiency in insight, religion, and perception. Your associated ability score is Wisdom.
Anger of a Gentle Man.
Also at third level, you gain the flip side to your gentle persona. When you enter a rage, your stature and personality shift drastically to the point of seeming like a different person. When you enter a rage, you gain the following benefits:
- You may swap your strength score and the ability score associated with your gentle persona. This swap lasts until your rage ends, or if you choose to swap it back as a bonus action while you are still raging.
- For the duration of your rage, your unarmed strikes deal 1d6 damage, or 1d8 if both of your hands are free.
- Anyone within 30 feet of you who has not seen you rage before must make a wisdom saving throw (DC 8+PB+Str Modifier) or be frightened of you until the end of their next turn.
- For the duration of your rage, your rage damage increases by 1.
Dual Personality
You have slowly become more in tune with your rage, granting yourself more control over it and allowing you to slip in and out of a rage as you see fit. Starting at 6th level, you no longer have individual uses of rage. Instead, you can rage for a number of minutes equal to your barbarian level, until you reach level 20 at which point your rage lasts until you chose to end it or you die. Your time that can be spent raging replenishes when you finish a long rest. You also ignore the multiclassing requirements for Barbarian.
Channeled Anger
Your nature as a physically imposing figure shines through even when you aren't raging. Starting at 10th level, when you would make a strength check or saving throw, and are not raging, you may use your associated ability score in place of your strength for that check or saving throw. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus and regain one use once you have raged for at least a minute and all uses when you finish a long rest.
Tempered Patience
In a final attempt to prevent people from releasing the monstrosity within you, you have practiced your patience and tamed your temper the best you could. Starting at level 14, while you aren't raging, you gain the following benefits:
- Creatures have disadvantage on attack rolls against you.
- You have advantage on saving throws against effects that would inflict the charmed or frightened conditions.
- You cannot be stunned or paralyzed.
- You have disadvantage on attack rolls against creatures who have not attacked you or subjected you to a saving throw.
- You have advantage on ability checks that use your associated ability score from your Gentle Persona feature.
