The monastic tradition of the Bateleurs goes centuries back. Their beliefs and way of life survived and thrived thanks to their mastery of illusions and deceptions, used to influence the political pawns and infiltrate the criminal underworld alike.

Those who follow the Way of the Bateleurs study long to ensure the survival of their way of life, even at the expense of others. They learn about their enemies and allies, and use deceptions combined with their understanding of Ki to give themselves an edge in brawls, wheter at the tavern or on the political stage.

Scholar (11th level)

Teachings of older Bateleurs sages and personal experience allows you to become more effecient in disciplines learned while at the monastery. You learn one language of your choice, gain proficiency in an Intellignece skill, and proficiency in a tool kit.

You gain an additional language, skill, and tool proficiency from the above list at 17th level.

Scholar (17th level)

Teachings of older Bateleurs sages and personal experience allows you to become more effecient in disciplines learned while at the monastery. You learn one language of your choice, gain proficiency in an Intellignece skill, and proficiency in a tool kit.

Uncanny Dodge

Starting at 6th level, when an attacker that you can see hits you with an attack, you can use your reaction to halve the attack’s damage against you.

Expert Manipulator

Starting at 11th level, whenever you make a Charisma ability check, you can spend 1 Ki point to add [roll]1d6[/roll] to the result.

Mind of Mercury

Starting at 11th level, you’ve honed your awareness and reflexes through mental aptitude and pattern recognition. Once per turn, if you’ve already taken your reaction, you may spend 1 ki point to take an additional reaction.

Illusionist (6th level)

Your understanding of the relationships between Ki and mind allow you to replicate the effect of certain spells, without needing material components.

Beggining at 3rd level, you can use an action and spend 2 Ki points to cast Charm person and Color spray. At 6th level, you can spend 3 Ki points to cast Mirror image and Blur.

Your understanding deepens and you can casts additional spells at 11th and 17th level.

Diziness

Following a successfull Flurry of blows strike, you can focus on an enemy nervous system and impose one of the following effects on the target :

  • They have disadventage against you until the end of your next turn.
  • They can't take reactions until the end of your next turn.
  • You analyse them, allowing you to use a reaction to attack them when they miss you with an attack, until you finish a long or short rest.

You gain proficiency in the History skill.

You gain proficiency in the Nature skill.

Religion

You gain proficiency in the Religion skill.

Nightmarish

At 17th level, you gain deeper understanding of creatures psche. When you hit a creature with an unarmed strike, you can spend 3 ki points to instill a subliminal image in their minds, which last for a number of days equal to your monk level. The image is harmless unless you use your action to end them. To do so, you and the target must be on the same plane of existence. When you use this action, the creature must make a Wisdom saving throw. If it fails, it is reduced to 0 hit points. If it succeeds, it takes 10d10 psychic damage.

You can have only one creature under the effect of this feature at a time. You can choose to end the vibrations harmlessly without using an action.
