Base Class: Monk
.
Adaptable Ki
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can manipulate your ki in ways beyond just enhancing your own prowess. As an action on your turn you can spend one Ki point in order to produce one of the following affects:
- You summon any monk weapon in one of your free hands. This weapon does normal damage as if it were a real weapon, however it cannot be disarmed and as a free action you can summon it back to your hand if you have dropped or thrown it.
- You summon a pair of gauntlets over your hands. These gauntlets increase your attack range by 5ft.
- You summon a layer of protective Ki to shield your body. As a reaction, you may reduce the damage of a non-magical attack dealing piercing, slashing or bludgeoning damage equal to your proficiency modifier. You may do this once per round.
You may only have one of these summons active at a time, and reactivating or changing the form of your ki causes the previous summon to vanish.
Adaptable Ki II
At 6th level you become more proficient in manipulating your Ki, allowing for new and upgraded affects, as well as maintaining more at once. Additionally you may now summon any number of Ki adaptations as an action. Added to your Adaptable Ki is;
- You summon a pair of projected greaves, giving you advantage on checks against being knocked prone or being pushed and/ or pulled.
You are now able to maintain control over two Ki adaptations at once, or host a more powerful version. Either action requires the use of two Ki points to do, and these summons still only last one minute or until you are knocked unconscious. The Boosted effects of these are;
- Attacks with your Ki weapons count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage.
- Whenever you make a successful attack with the gauntlets, you may have the target make a strength saving throw or be pushed back 15ft.
- Whenever you are dealt piercing, slashing or bludgeoning damage from a non-magical source while you have the layer of adapt Ki, you may spend your reaction to talk half damage instead, you may do this once per round.
- While wearing the summoned greaves, you may perform the DASH action as a bonus action.
Adaptive Host
Beginning at 11th level, you gain the ability to host up to three Ki adaptations/ upgraded Ki adaptations (meaning either 3 normal projections or one upgraded projection and one normal one). In addition to this, you can apply your adaptations to allies. However they must stay within 30ft of you or the summon disappears.
Master of Adaptation
At 17th level, any Ki adaptation you generate lasts for 10 minutes rather than one minute, additionally it is now a free action to summon any number of these adaptations, however it still requires the relevant spending of Ki points to do so. More so you are now able to give an adaptation to up to two targets.
Rather than spending 8 Ki points to gain the benefits of all upgraded adaptations, you may instead choose to spend 10 Ki points to gain them, plus these additional benefits;
- Whenever you successfully make an attack against a target with a Ki weapon, you may spend a Ki point to make a second attack against that target for free, you may only use this skill once per round.
- Whenever you make a successful unarmed strike against an opponent while using the Ki gauntlet, you may spend a Ki point to deal half of that damage as force damage in a 10ft cone behind the target. Anyone in this cone makes a dexterity saving throw, taking half damage on a successful save. You may only use this skill once per round.
- You gain resistance to piercing, slashing and bludgeoning damage from magical and non-magical sources.
- You may spend 5ft of movement to get out of any nonmagical restraints, additionally you are unaffected by non-magical rough terrain and are able to stand and move on water and other liquid surfaces.
