Base Class: Fighter
Purple Dragon Knights are warriors who hail from the kingdom of Cormyr. Pledged to protect the crown, they take the fight against evil beyond their kingdom’s borders. They are tasked with wandering the land as knights errant, relying on their judgment, bravery, and fidelity to the code of chivalry to guide them in defeating evildoers.
A Purple Dragon knight inspires greatness in others by committing brave deeds in battle. The mere presence of a knight in a hamlet is enough to cause some orcs and bandits to seek easier prey. A lone knight is a skilled warrior, but a knight leading a band of allies can transform even the most poorly equipped militia into a ferocious war band.
A knight prefers to lead through deeds, not words. As a knight spearheads an attack, the knight’s actions can awaken reserves of courage and conviction in allies that they never suspected they had.
Knighthood
A Purple Dragon knight serves as an envoy of the Cormyrean crown. Knights of high standing are expected to conduct themselves with grace.
When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you gain expertise in the Persuasion skill. If you are already proficient in Persuasion, you gain proficiency in a skill of your choice.
Rallying Cry
Starting at 3rd level, you learn how to provide yourself and your allies favourable conditions in combat.
When you use your Second Wind feature, you can choose a number of allied creatures equal to twice your proficiency bonus. They must be within 60 feet of you, and they must be able to see or hear you. Each one gains temporary hit points equal to your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier, and can use its reaction to move up to half its speed without provoking opportunity attacks.
You gain one additional use of your Second Wind at 7th, 10th, and 15th level.
Grand Strategy
Purple Dragon Knights are trained as skilled battle strategists, as well as royal envoys. This gives them a measure of control and grace, both on and off the battlefield.
Starting at 7th level, you may use your bonus action to grant an ally the ability to take the Dodge action as a reaction. They must be within 60 feet of you, and must be able to see or hear you.
Your courtly grace also causes you to gain proficiency in Charisma saving throws. If you already have this proficiency, you instead gain proficiency in Intelligence or Wisdom saving throws (your choice).
Inspiring Surge
Starting at 10th level, when you use your Action Surge feature, you can choose a number of allied creatures equal to your Charisma modifier. They must be within 60 feet of you, and must be able to see or hear you. Each one can make one melee or ranged weapon attack with its reaction.
Bulwark
Beginning at 15th level, you can extend the benefit of your Indomitable feature to an ally. When you succeed a saving throw using Indomitable, choose a number of allies equal to your Charisma modifier, and grant them a success. Provided they were subject to the same effect that made you roll, are within 60 feet of you, and are able to see or hear you.
Courageous Heart
At 18th level, the Purple Dragon Knight is the epitome of courage and virtue. You gain a number of abilities that benefit you and your allies.
- You are immune to being frightened
- You can use an action to end the frightened condition on an ally within 60 feet of you.
- You're Rallying Cry, Grand Strategy, and Inspiring surge abilities now work even if the targets cannot see or hear you.
- You now regain all expended uses of Indomitable when you finish a short rest.

Posted Oct 14, 2022Thank you. Took inspiration from several other homebrews and a little bit of the Samurai subclass.
