Sorcerer
Base Class: Sorcerer

For some reason, whether it be due to generations-long exposure to certain types of magic, divine intervention, or even some aspect of the Weave correcting itself, Magical Virtuosos manifest exceptional control over specific schools of magic. They are a source of wonder for arcane initiates, and the subject of jealousy from specialist wizards, for no manipulation of the Weave's specific strands can stand against the Magical Virtuoso.

Chosen Arcana

You have innate control over one of the following arcane schools: abjuration, conjuration, divination, enchantment, evocation, illusion, necromancy, or transmutation. All spells from other class spell lists of that type become sorcerer spells for you.

Upon completing a short rest, you can swap out spells of your chosen arcana school for another spell of that school of the same level. You can do this for up to a number of spells equal to your proficiency modifier.

Malleable Arcana

At 3rd level, you gain one additional metamagic option that you can only use on spells of the school that match your Chosen Arcana.

When you cast a spell of your Chosen Arcana school that uses sorcery points for metamagic, you can subtract up to your proficiency modifier from the amount of points spent. This ability can be used once per long rest.

Starting at 14th level, this ability can be used twice per long rest.

School Mastery

At 14th level, as a reaction, you can expend an available spell slot, casting it as a counterspell of the same level, against a target casting a spell from your Chosen Arcana school within 60 feet.

If you successfully counter a spell with this ability, you can recover a number of sorcery points equal to half the level of the spell countered. Alternatively, if the ability succeeds, instead of recovering sorcery points, you can turn the spell at the caster, dealing a number of d6s of force damage equal to the level of the spell countered.

Metamagic Flexibility

Beginning at 18th level, when you use metamagic to alter a spell from your Chosen Arcana, you reduce the sorcery point cost by 1.

Additionally, once per long rest, you can combine up to two metamagics on one spell from your Chosen Arcana, even if normally they cannot be combined.
