Bard
Base Class: Bard

As a charismatic class, Bards are often empathetic and understanding. Those who come from the College of Sorrows are a magnitude more so, acutely understanding the pain and suffering of others.

Bards in this college are far less popular in crowds as other bards, as they exude an aura of sadness and pain, as if the suffering of others directly connects with themselves. This aura bleeds into their performance, allowing them to create harrowing melodies and narratives with their music. Sorrow Bards tend to take up altruistic causes, attempting to raise awareness and generate action to fight against atrocities. This single-minded focus on others' suffering forces them to neglect their own needs. Bards of this college tend to have unkempt, grown out hair along with a lack of sleep and a slouching demeanor.

Magical Empathy

At 3rd level, you tap into the needs and wants of your teammates, and can magically assist them. You learn either the guidance or resistance cantrips. These count as bard cantrips for you, and don't count against the number of bard cantrips you know.

At 6th level, you learn the remaining cantrip.

Guidance

You touch one willing creature. Once before the spell ends, the target can roll a d4 and add the number rolled to one ability check of its choice. It can roll the die before or after making the ability check. The spell then ends.

Resistance

You touch one willing creature. Once before the spell ends, the target can roll a d4 and add the number rolled to one saving throw of its choice. It can roll the die before or after the saving throw. The spell then ends.

Sonder

Your acute understanding of how complex each individual life is allows you to study others more closely. You gain proficiency in Wisom (Insight) if you don't already. Additionally, your proficiency modifier is doubled for all Wisdom (Insight) checks.

Additionally, when making a Wisdom (Insight) check, you can use your Charisma ability modifier in place of your Wisdom ability modifier.

Inspired Healing

At 6th level, your inspiring words accelerate the healing of creatures. When you heal a willing creature using a spell or an item, you can expend a use of your bardic inspiration to roll your bardic inspiration die and add that number plus your charisma modifier to the amount healed.

Overwhelming Inspiration

Starting at 14th level, you can sacrifice your well-being in order to assist others. Whenever you expend an instance of bardic inspiration, you can give the target two inspiration dice instead of one. When you do so, you take 2d12 psychic damage, and gain one level of exhaustion.

The target who receives an additional inspiration die from this feature must use both inspiration die at the same time, adding the result of both rolls to create the final number.
