Warlock
Base Class: Warlock

Those with a silver tongue and a cunning mind can lure power out of others. Being employed by a group of powerful investors, a Warlock can be shaped not by selling a part of themselves but by the promises of what they can become or obtain. These wealthy benefactors want things beyond mere coin - they want substantive influence. Influence comes in all shapes and sizes; be it the currency of souls sought in some distant plane or worshippers desired by beings beyond our comprehension. In every way, enter the dark hand of the cabal - their warlock!

By granting their warlock a small amount of power, these silent influencers can test what their new investment can do without getting their hands dirty. The more one gives to the cabal, the more one gets. A warlock performing well can expect further influxes of power. When investors are happy, their warlocks are showered with a steady supply of funds and specialized gifts.

Now, go! Charm the world and earn that investment. Interest is expected.

Capital Investment Case

Beginning at 1st Level, your Investors bestow upon you a special container that allows them to bestow physical rewards upon you.  Your Capital Investment Case weighs 3lbs and can be no larger than 3ft on one side.  It must have an opening that you can access.  All other physical details are up to your Investors.  Common Capital Investment Cases take the forms of briefcases, lockboxes, and small satchels.

You are proficient with your Capital Investment Case and it counts as a magical melee weapon for the purpose of over coming resistances.  It deals 1d4 bludgeoning damage.

If your Capital Investment Case is lost or destroyed, you can retrieve another by performing an 8 hour ritual in any city with a bank that consists of you bargaining with your Investors' local representatives to be granted a new one.

Compounding Interest

Your Capital Investment Case has an innate property of developing and compounding magic. Once per short rest, you can spend a spell slot to inject magic into your Capital Case. After one hour of absorbing ambient magic, you can open your Capital Case (using the Use an Object action) to cast any spell you know with a casting time of one action or one bonus action at one level higher than described in the Spell Slot column of the warlock table.

For example, a 3rd level warlock would use a 2nd-level spell slot to inject magic into your Capital Case. After an hour, the warlock can open the case to cast hold person at 3rd-level rather than at 2nd-level.

The magic can survive in your Capital Case for a number of days equal to your warlock level.

Loss Leader

When you this class as your starting class at 1st Level, you have learned that to profit in some places you need to accept losses in others.  As an action, you can expend a number of Hit Die to recover an equal number of Pact Slots.  You can do this a number of times per Long Rest equal to your CHA modifier.

Personal Assistants

Beginning at 6th level, your Investors have more faith in you and want to help you expand your operations.  Once per day, you can conjure an Unseen Servant to assist you.  When conjured in this way the Unseen Servant has no time restriction and will persist until dismissed.  You may have up to your CHA modifier (minimum of 1) number of Unseen Servants active at a time.

At 10th level, by placing a gem or crystal worth at least 100 gp into your Capital Investment Case, you can retrieve from the case a Homunculus Intern (see Artificer class for Homunculus Servant stat block and information).  This Intern is of a standardized appearance by your Investors and takes the place of one of the Unseen Servants with regards to how many you can have active at a time.  Any attempt to obtain additional Interns results in the gem being consumed but no Intern appearing.

Higher Interest Rates

Starting at 10th Level, when you use your Compounding Interest feature, the spell cast when opening your Capital Case is cast at two levels higher rather than one.

Marketing Master

Starting at 14th level, your Investors are so impressed with your work that they help to recruit others.  When you cast an Enchantment spell that imposes a Saving Throw on any number of targets, you can force all that make the saving throw to make the roll at disadvantage.

You must finish a short rest before you can use this feature again.

Additional Warlock Invocations

  • Capital Injection
    • 5th Level
    • If you do not have a Capital Investment Case your patron bestows one upon you. After a long rest, you can request a magic item from the Replicable Items (2nd-Level Artificer) table and retrieve it from the Capital Investment Case. You may only have one of these magic items at a time; if you want a different one you must first return the magic item, or its equivalent cost in gold, into the Capital Investment Case at the beginning of a long rest.

Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.

  • Second Round Injection
    • Prerequisite: Capital Investment Case & 7th Level
    • You can now request  a magic item from the Replicable Items (6th-Level Artificer) table
  • Final Capital Injection
    • Prerequisite: Capital Investment Case & 12th Level
    • You can now request  a magic item from the Replicable Items (10th-Level Artificer) table
