Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

The tenets of the Oath of Protection are simple, and the Paladins who walk this path equally so; it is the duty of the strong to protect the weak. This oath emphasizes the importance of the preservation of life. Oath of Protection Paladins make shields of themselves, bulwarks against the darkness set to shelter the innocent.

Responsibility. The blessing of power and talent is not to be taken lightly. You have a duty to hone yourself for the benefit of those not so gifted.

Comradery. Seek friendship. Through our bonds we are made strong.

Compassion. Every creature struggles in it's own way. Kindness is another means of preventing harm. Look to those small acts of kindness that help stave off the dark. Do only the harm that is necessary.

Self-Sacrifice. Be the shield. Stand between the evil and the innocent. Do not allow the strong to prey upon the weak. Do not throw away your life recklessly, but the heroic sacrifice that saves many lives is the highest ideal.

Channel Divinity

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.

Protector's Shield. As an action, you channel divine force into a shield that you are holding. The AC benefit of the shield increases by +1 for the duration. In addition, you may make one attack with the shield as a bonus action on your turn as if it were a weapon that you were proficient with. The Protector’s Shield is a magical finesse weapon that does 1D8 plus your ability modifier in bludgeoning damage. On a critical hit with the Protector’s Shield the target must make a Constitution saving throw against your Spellcasting DC or be Stunned until the beginning of your next turn.

You can end this effect on your turn as part of any other action. If you are no longer holding or carrying this weapon, or if you fall unconscious, this effect ends.

Protector's Bulwark.

As an action, you can generate a shimmering, 15ft cube of force from your shield. All friendly creatures within this space are considered to have half cover for the duration. You can shift the cube via your movement, however while the wall is active your movement speed is halved. This feature lasts for one minute. You can end this Channel Divinity as a Bonus Action.

Aura of Preservation

Starting at 7th level, you constantly emanate an aura while you're not incapacitated. The aura extends 10 feet from you in every direction. Non-magical damage taken by all friendly creatures within the aura is reduced by an amount equal to your Charisma modifier.

At 18th level the range of this aura increases to 30ft.

Protector's Intervention

Starting at 15th level, when you see an enemy make a successful attack against a creature within 60ft of you, you may use your reaction to teleport within 5ft of the creature and become the new target for the attack. If the attack roll does not exceed your AC, the enemy misses you. You have resistance against all damage after using this ability until the end of your next turn. You may use this ability once and it resets after a short or long rest.

Unbreakable

At 20th level, as an action, you can magically summon a suit of golden, shimmering armor around your form, gaining the following benefits for 1 minute:
- You shed bright light in a 30ft radius and dim light for a further 30ft
- You have resistance to all damage.
- You have advantage on all saving throws.
- Any creature of your choice that stands within your armor’s light is at disadvantage to attack any creature other than you.

Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
