Artificer
Base Class: Artificer

The game master is an artificer that views the battlefield as a game playing out before them. Although they mostly specialize in dragon chess, various game masters emerge that fight in battles using cards or dice. When in a conflict, these artificers focus on controlling the battlefield and supporting their allies while simultaneously making their enemies struggle. They use cunning and trickery to win in both battles and regular games, utilizing illusions and tactics to the best of their abiliity.

Tool Proficiency

You gain proficiency with dragon chess and one other gaming set of your choice. Additionally, you can now use gaming sets as a focus for your artificer spells.

Game Master Spells

You always have certain spells prepared after you reach particular levels in this class, as shown in the Game Master Spells table. These spells count as artificer spells for you, but they don't count against the number of artificer spells you prepare.

Artificer Level       Spells

3rd                       Bless, Command

5th                       Arcanist's Magic Aura, Warding Bond

9th                       Counterspell, Slow

13th                     Banishment, Compulsion

17th                     Mislead, Rary's Telepathic Bond

Luck And Strategy Intertwines

Every Game Master knows that the amount of luck needed to win a game depends on the type of game being played, but luck will always be an important part of a combat. Whenever you cast a spell of any level while in combat, you can choose to roll a d6 to create an additional effect depending on the result of the die roll.

1-2: Up to 2 creatures of your choice take force damage equal to your intelligence modifier

3-4: Until the end of this turn, you gain +10 to your walking speed and your movement doesn't provoke opportunity attacks

5-6: Until the end of your next turn, a number of creatures of your choice up to your intelligence modifier gain half cover

You can use this feature a number of times of times equal to your proficiency bonus and you regain all expended uses after taking a long rest.

Insight Of A Tactician

You gain the ability to better manipulate the battlefield. As a reaction to an attack roll, you can provide your intelligence modifier to the AC of a creature within 60ft of you that you can see and the target must be able to hear you. Alternatively, you can subtract your intelligence modifier from the AC of a creature. Either way, you can only use this reaction a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest.

Focus For The Fight

You have honed your techniques on the battlefield and have learned what many tacticians strive to achieve. You gain the ability to concentrate on two different artificer spells at the same time. While maintaining concentration on both spells, you have disadvantage on saving throws to maintain concentration and when your concentration ends unwillingly on one spell, you lose concentration on the other spell. When your concentration on both spells ends you gain a level of exhaustion that can only be removed by taking a long rest. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your intelligence modifier per long rest.

Battlefield Mastery

Your skills and strategies on the battlefield are world renowned. As an action you can replicate the effects of the Mirage Arcane spell provided you have a gaming set on hand. The effects of the spell only last for 10 minutes, but while active, you and a number of willing creatures equal to your intelligence modifier gain half your proficiency bonus (rounded down) to AC and all saving throws while in the spells area. Once you use this action, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest unless you expend a spell slot of 4th level or higher.
