Base Class: Fighter
Keepers of fate, and of the responsibilities that the living owe to the dead, the order of crow knights was founded by historians, healers, and stewards of the night. Crow knights serve under the banner of the Raven Queen. They protect the living who are not yet due to die, they watch with careful reverence, the martyrdom of those whose are, and they bring death to those who have wandered too long.
The name of the crow knight is a descension of the Raven Queen's name. It is not uncommon for heroes to die at the hands of monsters, so it falls to the survivors to carry that moment of death. Those companions who carry and tell tales of their dead, honor them. The living owe it to remember the stories that end, and to not turn their eye from uncomfortable truths. This simple act of kindness inspired the first order, which was given a goddess' approval.
First Witness. As a crow knight, your character witnessed the death of a hero or another significant person in history. Choose a figure from the Famous Deaths table, or invent a new one. Witnessing a famous death should impart some lesson or ambition onto your character.

Bonus Proficiencies
3rd-level Crow Knight feature
You are blessed with knowledge from beyond a grave. You gain proficiency in the Perception skill if you don't already have it, and you learn a language of your choice.
Touch of Life/Death
3rd-level Crow Knight feature
Your closeness with death has granted you a supernatural sense. With it, you can guide a creature's spirit in the following ways:
- Touch of Life. As an action, you can determine that a creature you touch (other than yourself) is not yet meant to die. The creature regains 1d8 hit points.
- Touch of Death. When you hit a creature with a weapon attack and deal damage, you can harry the target's spirit, dealing an additional 1d8 damage of the weapon’s type.
When you reach certain levels in this class, this feature rolls more dice: 2d8 at 8th level, 3d8 at 13th level, and 4d8 at 18th level. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier, and you regain all uses when you finish a short or long rest.
Empathy for the Dying
3rd-level Crow Knight feature
Whenever you perform a Touch of Life, both you and the target gain temporary hit points equal to your Wisdom modifier. These temporary hit points last until you perform another Touch of Life, or until either you or the target finishes a short or long rest.
Sleepwalking
7th-level Crow Knight feature
Your watchful eye has brought you the gift of sleepwalking. While sleeping, you are not unconscious, and are aware of your surroundings. You can move and act as normal, but you wake up if you perform any activity more strenuous than walking, tending to wounds, or keeping watch.
Lastly, you can't be surprised in combat.
Defy Death
10th-level Crow Knight feature
You dream of the moment of your death, but your visions are vague. This grave awareness improves your survivability. When you make a saving throw against an effect that can deal damage to you, you can use your reaction to correct the course of fate, gaining advantage on the save.
Mercy Attack
15th-level Crow Knight feature
When you perform a Touch of Life on your turn, you can immediately make one weapon attack.
Keeper of the Long Night
18th-level Crow Knight feature
You are a warden of the thin line between life and death. Those who are doomed to die, die more swiftly by your hand, and those who are graced to live, are protected under your watch. When you perform either a Touch of Life or Touch of Death as part of an action you take on your turn, you can immediately use a bonus action to perform it again, choosing the same target.
Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
