Base Class: Druid
Druids of the Circle of the Alchemist use their magic and knowledge of nature to create alchemical potions. They are a blessing to their companions, arming them with powerful potions and helpful gifts.
Potions of Life
When you choose this circle at 2nd level, you gain proficiency with your choice of alchemist's supplies or the poisoner's kit.
- As a bonus action, you can spend one of your Hit Dice to create a Potion of Life. A creature that drinks this potion can choose to:
- Regain a number of hit points equal to 1d8 + your Constitution modifier.
- Regain a spent Hit Die.
Creating a Potion of Life requires you to have the artisan's tools you chose on your person, and any potion you create with this feature lasts until it is drunk or you regain Hit Dice.
Alchemist's Supplies
You gain proficiency with alchemist's supplies.
Poisoner's Kit
You gain proficiency with the poisoner's kit.
Alchemical Shape
The uses of your Wild Shape feature are represented by a consumable potion. Drinking one of these potions allows you to magically assume the shape of a beast that you have seen before, as you normally would through Wild Shape. Other creatures you choose can also drink one of these potions to assume the shape of a beast that they have seen before, gaining the benefits of your Wild Shape feature.
Only one creature can benefit from your Wild Shape feature at a time. If another creature drinks an Alchemical Shape potion, the previous creature reverts to their normal form.
Furry Form
This feature exists to resolve a problem with D&D Beyond's Homebrew system. Therefore, this feature should not be taken seriously or considered unless it adds to your experience of Dungeons and Dragons.
Your experimentation with natural potions has caused permanent changes to your form. You grow animalistic traits across your body, and continue to do so throughout your adventures.
Any animalistic traits you gain from this feature are purely visual, and confer no bonuses of any kind.
Smelly Sense
- At 6th level, you have learnt the smells of various potions and poisons. You gain the following traits:
- You can smell the presence of poisons and poisonous creatures within 30 feet of you. You do not know the location, and can't identify what poison or creature you smell.
- You can closely smell a potion or poison as an action to learn what it does, as though you had tasted it.
- You can spend a minute inspecting a creature to learn what potions or poisons, if any, are currently affecting it.
Bestial Mutagen
By 10th level, you've mastered a Bestial Mutagen. You can create a Bestial Mutagen whenever you finish a short rest.
A creature that drinks this mutagen is enhanced is if by the enhance ability spell. The drinker determines the enhancement bestowed by the spell, the effects of which last 1 hour. The drinker does not need to maintain concentration on the spell to sustain the enhancement, and can change the enhancement they benefit from as an action.
Any creature that benefits from your Bestial Mutagen grows some animalistic features corresponding to the enhancement they chose.
Any mutagen you create with this feature lasts until it is drunk or you finish a long rest.
Apex Potion
At 14th level, you learn the ultimate alchemical mix. By spending 1 minute mixing, you can combine a Bestial Mutagen and a potion from your Alchemical Shape feature to create an Apex Potion.
- An Apex Potion is similar to an Alchemical Shape potion, allowing you or another creature you choose to transform by drinking one. However, the drinker can transform into an anthropomorphic form in between their normal form and a beast shape. This allows the drinker to choose a form that.
- Is the same size as their normal size.
- Can breathe air normally despite being aquatic.
- Is capable of casting spells.
- Can speak and take any action that requires hands.
- Is physically capable of using features from their class, race or other source.
- Can practically wear or wield a piece of equipment.
It might be necessary to define some choices about the anthropomorphic form so that traits don't practically conflict. If you choose a form that can practically wear Medium sized armour, you can't also be a Huge size, for instance.
An Apex Potion you create with this feature lasts until it is drunk or you finish a short or long rest. If you create a new Apex Potion, the previous one ceases to function.
