Base Class: Ranger
A group of rangers who train tirelessly to hunt down users of the arcane. Drawing on the magic of nature to punish those who manipulate the shattered arcane weave; it is their duty to seek out and kill magic users before their acts bring about the wrath of the spell plague. Though not all spell users have ill intent, the Spell Breakers are sworn to strike them down before they involuntary cause calamity. Over the 20 years since the start of the spell plague these rangers have become increasingly sparse, as magic users have become few and far between. Magic users still fear the vigilant eyes of the Spell Breakers.
Arcane Investigator
At 3rd level, you have honed your skills at investigating sites of magical concern. You gain proficiency in the arcana and investigation skills.
Arcane Bane
At 3rd level, Spell Breakers use the instability of the arcane weave to cause more harm with each strike against those concentrating on spells.
When attacking someone who is concentrating on a spell your attacks do an additional 1d10 psychic damage as you use their connection to the arcane weave to tear their mind.
Spell Breaker
At 7th level, if a creature casts a spell within 60 feet of the ranger, the ranger may use their reaction to cast counter spell as if cast at the 3rd level. The ranger can do this a number of times equal to their wisdom modifier.
All Seeing Eye
At 11th level, your eyes have become even keener at picking up the threads of arcane energy. You can track those who have recently cast a spell by a thin thread that floats on the air. This thread only last for a day and if you do not locate them within a day of them casting the spell it fades away.
Only one Spell Breaker was known to posses this feature and he was given the name "Arcane Reaper." This rangers' identity was never revealed and he mysteriously vanished one day. He is known for the culling of Soul Forge where he pointed out hundreds of magic users who were put to death.
Arcane Reaper
At 15th level, while using the all seeing eye feature you can choose to cut the thread with a special blade designed by you. This triggers the thread to break and a blue flame cascades down the line. Upon reaching the end of the thread the magic user bursts into flames taking 2d10 fire damage each round. Beware, the flames of the spell plague are the very thing you are sworn to protect people from and they spread uncontrollably. There is no known way to extinguish the flames of the spell plague.
Around the time the ranger known as the "Arcane Reaper" disappeared, 15 homes in Soul Forge burned with blue flames and 35 people lost their lives. Rumors circulated wildly about the "Arcane Reaper" perishing in the fire, but some believe he caused this disaster somehow.
