Base Class: Sorcerer
Some warriors boast that from birth they were destined to hold a weapon, and that their inner being is connected to that weapon. For these Sorcerers this is literally the truth.
They may have the blessing of a warrior god. Perhaps one of their parents wielded a immensely powerful magic weapon or were possessed by one. They may be the reincarnation of a legendary fighter who at the end of their life was almost more weapon than person. Or perhaps their soul is akin to that of blade. Whatever the case may be these sorcerers can manifest their sorcerous spark of magic as a physical weapon called a SoulSword.
These Sorcerers innately have great skill with their SoulSwords and know them like an extension of their own flesh, or in this case soul. All SoulSwords have a unique look that represents some aspect of the Sorcerer’s soul in physical representation, although some take the form of weapons that do not have blades. The SoulSword is as magical as the Sorcerer and through them is also woven into the Cosmic Weave of Magic. Many of these Sorcerers look at other “weapons” as crude and inept mockeries of the pure incarnation of battle and destruction they wield choosing to never wield any other instrument of warfare.
As the Sorcerer gains mastery over their power, so too does the Soulsword grow in its destructive abilities. These Sorcerers are far and few between but are renowned as some of the most skilled and deadly warriors in the multiverse.
Soul Wielder
At 1st level, you sorcerous spark entertwines with your soul, allowing you to manifest the combination as a deadly weapon called a SoulSword. You innately acquire the training necessary to effectively arm yourself for battle with this weapon. Your SoulSword is unique to you and you alone can wield it. It takes on a design that represents some core aspect of your soul and radiates with the power of your arcane spark of magic. You are perfectly atuned to this weapon. Your soul resonates as a weapon, every fiber of your being in tune with your SoulSword. The SoulSword is a perfect extension of yourself, as alive as you are, and as sutch your intuitive attacks with it leave much less of an opening for opponents to take advantage of than the clumsy motions of most warriors.
- When you take this subclass choose a single melee weapon or two light melee weapons for your SoulSword(s) to take the form of. Whenever you gain a level in this class you may choose to change your SoulSword into a different melee weapon or two light one handed melee weapons.
- You may as a bonus action summon your SoulSword(s), and while wielded you are proficient with it. When you attack with your SoulSword(s), you can use your Charisma modifier, instead of Strength or Dexterity, for the attack and damage rolls.
- Your SoulSword(s) can be used as your spellcasting focus. Attacks made with it are considered magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and Immunity to non magical attacks. Your SoulSword(s) disappears if it is more than 5 feet away from you for a minute or more, with the exception of a SoulSword(s) that has the thrown property, which disappear after a thrown attack has been made with it.
- At 6th Level your SoulSword can learn from the souls of other magical weapons. You can attune to a magic weapon other than your SoulSword, allowing your SoulSword to absorb the magic weapon into itself. While you are attuned to the absorbed weapon your SoulSword gains any of the magical bonuses and/or abilities the absorbed weapon benefited from. This can only be done with one magic weapon at a time and cannot be done with a sentient weapon.
Soul Marks
At 1st Level when you deal damage to a target with your SoulSword on your turn you may as a bonus action put a Soul Mark on that target. A creature with a Soul Mark has disadvantage on attacks against you for 30 seconds(5 rounds) at which point the Soul Mark fades. Constructs and Undead crestures cannot be Soul Marked. You may use this ability a number of times equal to your Charisma Modifier per Short Rest.
Starting at 3rd Level you can Mark your own Soul with defensive Magic’s. You learn the Mage Armor spell which doesn’t count against your number of sorcerer spells known. In addition, you can cast it by spending 2 sorcery points or by expending a spell slot. If you cast it with Sorcery Points you may add your Charisma Modifier to your AC instead of your Dexterity Modifier.
Extra Attack
Beginning at 6th level, you can attack twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn.
Soul Siphon
Starting at 6th Level you learn to be more efficient in combat by absorbing minuscule traces of your enemie’s souls with your SoulSword.
When you score a Critical Hit against a hostile creature with a SoulSword, or deal a Killing Blow with a SoulSword to a creature of significant threat (DM’s discretion) you regain 1 sorcery point. If the creature is Soul Marked, you regain 1 additional sorcery point.
Confirming a critical hit on a helpless creature does not restore any Sorcery Points. Destroying an unattended object, reducing a helpless creature to 0 or fewer hit points also does not restore any Sorcery Points. You do not restore any Sorcery Points from confirming a Critical Hit or Killing Blow on Constructs or Undead creatures.
You can never have more sorcery points than shown on the Sorcerer table for your level.
SoulCharged Strikes
Sarting at 14th level while in combat your SoulSword can become temporarily infused with the ambient magic of your Sorcerous Spark when you cast a spell, causing it to flare with power.
When you cast a spell in combat that would deal damage your SoulSword absorbs a portion of the spells magic, giving your next attack with it a bonus to it's damage equal to the level the spell was cast at (minimum of 1) + your proficiency modifier. This damage is the same as the type of the spell that powered it. Your SoulSword can only be charged by one spell at a time.
SoulWoven Warrior
At 18th Level through its connection to your Sorcerous Spark your SoulSword begins to exhibit traits native to the natural Magic of The Weave. It gains a taste for magic and can both absorb and store spells.
- You can temporarily store spells in your SoulSword, holding them until you use them. It can store up to two spells at a time. You can cast a spell into your SoulSword by touching it as the spell is cast. The spell has no effect, other than to be stored in the SoulSword. If the SoulSword can't hold the spell, the spell is expended without effect. You can only store up two two spells per Short Rest. While wielding your Soulsword, you can cast any spell stored in it. The spell cast from your SoulSword is no longer stored in it, freeing up space. You can cast a stored spend anytime you could cast the spell normally so long as you are wielding it.
- While wielding your SoulSword you can cast a stored spell as a reaction when you make a melee attack with your SoulSword. Your SoulSword can only store Sorcerer Spells that you cast.
- As a reaction Immediately after a creature casts a spell that targets you or includes you in its area of effect, you may make a Charisma saving throw The DC equals your spell save DC. On a sucsessfull save, you negate the spell’s effect against you and the dispelled magic is absorbed into your SoulSword giving you Sorcery points equal to the level of the spell that was nullified. If you fail the saving throw the spell effects you as intended and damage if any is dealt. You can use this ability an amount of times equal to your Charisma Modifier (minimum of 1) per long rest.
