Artificer
Base Class: Artificer

Curses have plagued kingdoms for centuries, settling in magical armaments, familial birthrights, and unhallowed sites. They are pernicious, catching the unwary off guard, leading to the downfall of heroes, knights, mages, and the like.

But there are those who have studied these nefarious forms of the arcane, and have used these methods for their own goals, an unsuspecting means to an end. To wield curses and manipulate them can be the work of scholars wishing to study the history of these curses, or of ne'er-do-wells who would seek to bring mischief and calamity with their arcane artifice.

You gain proficiency with mason’s tools. If you already have this proficiency, you gain proficiency with one other type of artisan’s tools of your choice.

Saboteur Spells

3rd-level Saboteur feature

You always have certain spells prepared after you reach particular levels in this class, as shown in the Saboteur Spells table. These spells count as artificer spells for you, but they don’t count against the number of artificer spells you prepare.

Arcane Sabotage

3rd-level Saboteur feature

As an action, you may attempt to curse an item a number of times per day equal to your Proficiency Bonus, and you regain all uses at the end of a Long Rest. If the item is non-magical, it automatically succeeds, otherwise you must attempt an Intelligence check against a DC based on the level of enchantment:

| Level | Curse DC |
| Common | 13 |
| Uncommon | 17 |
| Rare | 21 |
| Very Rare | 25 |
| Legendary | 29 |

Once cursed, the item remains cursed for 24 hours or until it is removed with Remove Curse. Items can be affected as such

Cursed Items

Cannon Curse Effect

Weapons

Grants the bearer a penalty to attack and damage rolls equal to your proficiency bonus

Armor

Grants the bearer a penalty to their Armor Class or Saving Throws equal to your proficiency bonus against all spells and attacks from you

Items

Grants the bearer disadvantage on all ability checks while it is on their person

Curse Analysis

5th-level Saboteur feature

When identifying magical items and enchantments, you are able to correctly identify any magical curses or traps through spellcasting or arcane investigation.

In addition, you may always choose to end attunement to any cursed magical items.

Magical Tampering

9th-level Saboteur feature

When you are targeted by an attack from a spell, magic item or magic weapon, you may use your reaction to impose disadvantage on the attack roll. You may use this ability a number of times equal to your Proficiency Bonus and regain all uses after a Long Rest.

Masterful Sabotage

15th-level Saboteur feature

Your mastery of arcane sabotage allows you to transfer the cursed properties from one item to another. You must make an Intelligence Check at the highest DC of the two items according to your Arcane Sabotage feature. If you succeed, all cursed properties are removed from one item and are infused in the other. The items must be of similar function, otherwise the transfer automatically fails.

In addition, all curses placed by your Arcane Sabotage feature last indefinitely until Remove Curse is used.
