Base Class: Monk
A new deity in the pantheon, Cosmis the Star Dragon is the god the Universe, overseeing the creation of the countless worlds in the prime material plane. He hungers for knowledge and will extend a bit of his cosmic power to mortals who follow the pursuit of knowledge by teaching them about Ki, the magic that flows through all living creatures. In return, Cosmis learns all that that Monk learns. Cosmis possesses extensions of himself known as the Choir of Stars, lesser demigod star dragons who travel throughout the many mortal worlds and speak on his behalf to the monks through dreams and visions during meditation. Monks who follow this order can be identified by their eyes, when one binds themselves to the Ki of the universe, their eyes appear as black voids. But looking closely will show within the voids are countless stars, resembling a night sky. This gift gives them cosmic insight, increasing their ability to discern lies and find the secrets of the multiverse. Through practice and discipline, these monks eventually gain some of the power of creation on a smaller scale. They can manipulate the matter around them to deliver punishing strikes infused with the white hot flame of a newly formed star and affect the space around them by conjuring the explosive waves of a supernova explosion to damage enemies or the gravitational pull of a black hole to shield themselves.
Fury of Creation
After choosing this monastic tradition at level 3, you can use 1 Ki point to create a miniature stellar core at the beginning of your attack action that you can use against your enemies. You can use it in the following ways:
- You can use the stellar core as a ranged attack, dealing radiant damage equal to double your Martial Arts die damage in a 5 foot radius around the target. (For example, at a monk level of 5, this attack will deal 2d6 radiant damage.) You can add your Dexterity or Wisdom modifier to this attack roll in addition to your proficiency modifier. This attack has a maximum range of 60 feet, detonating upon reaching the maximum distance or coming into contact with something else like a wall or a tree. At 10th level the range increases to 80 feet and impact radius increases to 10 feet, at 17th level the range increases again to 100 feet and the impact radius increases to 15 feet.
- You can infuse your unarmed strikes with the radiant energy of the stellar core, on the next attack you land with your unarmed strikes you can add 2 additional Martial Arts die in radiant damage to your target. If unused, the stellar core's energy dissipates at the start of your next turn.
You may only use Fury of Creation once per turn. The effect begins at the start of your attack action, and connot be used at any other point during your turn or if you use any action other than the attack action.
Additionally, at 17th level, you can use up to 5 ki points to add 2d6 in radiant damage per ki point used, creating intense supernovae with your Fury of Creation.
Cosmic Awareness
At level 6 you gain the ability to discern the truth from lies and what's hidden from what's shown at level 6. If you roll a 9 or lower on an insight or perception check, you instead treat it as a 10. In addition, you can not be surprised, your passive perception increases by 1, and you are always able to locate where you are in the world and which direction is north by looking at the night sky.
Choir of Stars
Once reaching level 11, you can enter a special meditation that grants you the opportunity to ask questions of the Choir of Stars, extensions of Cosmis' power. You can meditate for 10 minutes once per day and emmulate the effects of a Commune spell requiring no components.
Creator and Destroyer
After intense training, Cosmis has granted you immense power at level 17. As an action, you can expend a designated number of Ki points to use one of the two following effects:
- Crown Magnetar (5 ki points): You create a Magnetar in your hands and can extend it in a 15 foot wide line up to 50 feet away from you. All creatures in the path of the Magnetar who are holding metal weapons, wearing metal armor, or carry anything else metallic must make a STR saving throw equal to your Stunning Strike save DC. On a failed save, held items are pulled off the creature to the endpoint of the Magnetar's path. Creatures wearing metal armor are pulled 10 feet in the direction of the Magnetar's endpoint and are knocked prone.
- Black Hole Sun (5 ki points): You begin channeling to create a black hole in your hands, starting whenever you initiate this action and it ends at the beginning of your next turn. All creatures within 15 feet of you have a speed of 0 and have disadvantage on melee attacks against you. Projectiles of any kind that enter the radius are pulled into the black hole and are rendered useless, including magical projectiles such as Magic Missiles, and area of effect spells have no effect in the radius but act as normal outside of it. At the end of the channel, all creatures who were within the radius are pulled 5 feet towards you (if there is an unoccupied space to fill) and take 8d6 Force damage from the intense gravity. You can not take bonus actions or move while channeling.
