Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

The Oath of the Peacekeeper is a vow to uphold the Law above all other tenets. Whereas other oaths may revere piety or goodness, or the defense of the sovereign our country, or even made in the pursuit of vengeance, the Peacekeeper holds the Law above their own personal pursuits.

A Peacekeeper can detain others on behalf of the Law, pursue criminals beyond borders, or even declare themselves the rightful judge, jury, and even executioner in some cases.

The Peacekeeper is tasked with a code of honor to hold all who break the law accountable, whether it be the lowest criminal, or the highest office in the land.

Tenets of the Peacekeeper

The Oath of the Peacekeeper is sworn upon a document, office, or edifice of Law, emphasizing the following tenets:

  • Law: The law is paramount. It is the mortar that holds the stones of civilization together, and it must be respected.
  • Justice: You must be willing to do what needs to be done for the sake of law & order, even in the face of overwhelming odds.
  • Jurisdiction: You must swear to uphold the Laws of your jurisdiction, even if the pursuit of justice should take you beyond your borders.
  • Impartiality: Justice is blind; the Law affects everyone equally; no one is above the Law.

Channel Divinity

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.

Cease & Desist. As an action, you can detain a humanoid creature within 5 feet of you that you can see by using the force of your will. The creature must be your size or smaller. It must succeed a Wisdom saving throw; if it fails, the creature becomes incapacitated. The creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending this condition on success.

In the Name of the Law. As an action, you can diffuse violence around you. All non-magical weapons within 30 feet of you may only deal non-lethal damage. Spellcasters who can hear you within this area must immediately make a concentration check. You can end this effect on your turn as a bonus action.

Aura of Justice

Beginning at 7th level, your preparedness in battle makes you exceptionally trained as a unit. You and friendly creatures within 5 feet of you may use a reaction to impose a disadvantage on attacks that you can see made against them.

At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.

Protect & Serve

Starting at 15th level, you become adept at protecting fallen allies. You may use a bonus action to ensure that a dying ally automatically succeeds on a death saving throw. This ability may be performed a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier and replenishes after a long rest.

I am the Law

At 20th level, you become an unstoppable force of justice.

Using your action, you undergo a transformation. For 1 minute, you gain the following benefits:

  • Your weapon damage becomes non-lethal for the duration; when you hit another creature with a melee weapon attack, the creature must make a Constitution saving throw or become grappled, restrained, frightened or stunned. You may choose the effect after the creature makes its saving throw, but before the result is revealed. Creatures affected by the condition caused by this attack may make a saving throw at the end of each of their turns to end this condition.
  • Enemy creatures within 10 feet of you have disadvantage on saving throws against your paladin spells and Channel Divinity options.

Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
