Base Class: Monk

Monks who follow this path are generally regarded as Psions or Mindwalkers. Mindwalkers train their minds with intense discipline and focus to expand their senses and energies. Mindwalkers and non-psionic monks have similar abilities because, as most Mindwalkers understand, Ki and Psi are essentially the same energy. 

While Mindwalkers have to train their bodies to be able to withstand the strain they can be forced into by psionic manipulations, most put a greater emphasis on training the mind and learning the complexities of the arcane and supernatural. Some may even go so far as to shun their bodies, believing that their mind is all that matters. 

While any sentient race has the potential for psionic ability, humanity typically has the highest percentage of psionically adept individuals. 

Mental Martial Arts

When you choose this path at 3rd level you fully awaken the psionic energy inside you and learn to use it to manipulate your surroundings. 

When you take the attack action you can replace any unarmed strike with a mental attack against another mind. Choose a target that you can see that understands at least one language that is within 10+10x proficiency in feet.(30ft at level 3) This attack forces the target to make a Wisdom Save vs your Ki DC (8 + proficiency modifier + wisdom modifier). On a failure the target takes damage equal to your martial arts die + wisdom modifier. 

If you spend 1 Ki as part of the attack you can choose to add one of the following options. You can choose to spend this Ki after the save is rolled;

  • The next attack the target makes is made with disadvantage
  • The next attack made against the target is made with advantage

Psionic Mind

Additionally, at 3rd level, you learn the spells Mage Hand, Message, and Mind Sliver. These spells do not count towards your spells known. 

You Mage Hand has the following changes;

  • You can activate it as a bonus action.
  • Your hand is invisible.
  • The weight limit on the spell is equal to 10lbs x wisdom modifier.(minimum of 10lbs)
  • You do not require any verbal components to cast this spell.

Your Message has the following changes;

  • You do not need to whisper your message and instead can simply think it. 
  • The spell's message cannot be blocked except by an effect that would render the target resistant or immune to psychic damage, or Charms.
  • You do not require any verbal, somatic, or material components to cast this spell.

 

Psionic Maneuvers

At 6th level, your expertise with your mental power expands into finner control and greater force. 

  • When you make a mental martial arts attack you can spend one Ki to replace an attack with a telekinetic shove against a creature you can see within 30 feet of you. When you do so, the target must succeed on a Strength saving throw vs your Ki Save DC or be moved 5 feet in a direction of your choice, provided the space is open. A creature can willingly fail this save. 
  • When you make a mental martial arts attack you can spend one Ki to replace an attack with a telekinetic grapple against a creature you can see within 30 feet of you. When you do so, the target must succeed on a Strength saving throw vs your Ki Save DC or be Grappled. A creature can willingly fail this save. The target can repeat the saving throw at the end of its next turn. At the start of your next turn, you can choose to maintain the grapple, costing you no additional Ki points. Doing so requires your concentration.
  • When you make a mental martial arts attack you can spend one Ki to replace an attack with a telekinetic trip against a creature you can see within 30 feet of you. When you do so, the target must succeed on a Strength saving throw vs your Ki Save DC or be knocked prone. A creature can willingly fail this save. 

In addition to this, your level of control allows you to use cast Mage Hand as a reaction by spending 1 Ki.

 

Psionic Expression

When you reach this level in your training you begin to hone in on a fundamental balancing of energies throughout the universe. This allows you to not only connect with the ki or psi of other living things but manipulate your surroundings and your own body in extraordinary ways that mimic magical spells.

Choose 3 Cantrips and 3 Spells of 5th level or lower from the Warlock spell list. You can cast these spells using Ki equal to the spell's level (maximum 5th level). Whenever you gain a level in this class you may change any of the spells gained from this feature for another spell that meets the requirements of this feature. Casting these spells in this manner removes any verbal and material component requirement.

In addition, you learn the spells Telekinesis and Telepathic Bond and can cast them each once per long rest or by spending 5 Ki. Casting these spells in this manner removes the verbal and material component requirement. 

 

Empty Mind

When you reach this level your prowess of the mind becomes so great that you can perform some tasks effortlessly, seemingly without thought. 

When you make a Mental Martial Arts attack against a creature and deal damage that creature has disadvantage on attacks made against you until the start of your next turn. 

When you spend at least 1 Ki during your turn you can immediately activate/trigger any Mage Hand you have active, no action is required.

You learn the spells Psychic Scream and Foresight. You can cast each of these spells by spending 10 Ki. You can't cast these spells again in this manner until you finish a long rest. While Foresight is active you're maximum Ki Pool is reduced by 10 points.
