Rogue
Base Class: Rogue

You are a killer. Picking and choosing your victims with great care in order to get what you need from them while still breathing. Or just to make sure you learn how to slowly torment them in the most horrific way before ending them for good. Whoever you choose to kill, you kill them in the name of a higher power. Sacrificing your victim in the name of the higher power, will strengthen your capabilities. Is the higher power a devil manipulating you to do their dirty work, an ancient being from beyond the outer realms using you as their herald, or perhaps just a voice in your head? Who knows? Perhaps not even you.

Victim

3rd lvl Stalking Butcher Feature:

The hunter must first choose their prey. You can choose a creature that you can see to become your “victim” once per long rest requiring no action. When you choose a victim they remain so until they die or you choose another creature to be your victim. You can only have 1 victim at a time. You gain certain benefits against your victim.

  • When you are hiding directly from your victim you make all stealth rolls with advantage. You also gain advantage on stealth checks if you are sneaking around your victims home or workplace for example, (additional places may apply as well for this at your DM’s discretion.)
  • All charisma checks where you are interacting directly with your victim or those close to them (a work colleague or family member for example) are rolled with advantage.
  • In addition any rolls made to gather more information about your victim, such as investigation checks or perception checks are made with advantage
  • All attacks you make against your victim have advantage.

If a creature has remained your victim for over 24 hours and they die from an attack that you make. You can gather a “Trophy” from their corpse. It could be something they wore, a lock of their hair, or a finger or an ear. You can sacrifice your trophy as a bonus action, choosing a creature that you can see and they are now considered your victim regardless of whether you have made someone a Victim before today, they are now your new Victim. You can have a number of Trophies equal to your proficiency bonus.

Butchers Tools

3rd lvl Stalking Butcher Feature:

You can be quite particular regarding what you wish to kill your victim with. You gain proficiency in a weapon of your choice so long as it doesn’t have the heavy, two handed or special properties. Your chosen weapon can deal Sneak Attack damage regardless of whether it has the finesse or ranged feature. You can also choose an improvised weapon as your Butchers Tools.

Sadistic Brews

9th lvl Stalking Butcher Feature:

Sometimes you feel the urge to see your victim suffer from something else than your blade. You gain proficiency with poisoner’s kit. Using a poisoner’s kit, as part of a short or long rest you can spend 1 hour creating one of the brews in the list below. If you sacrifice a trophy while making a brew you can choose to create the Corrupted Brew.

  • Brew of the loose tongue: A creature affected by this cannot speak lies for 1d4 hours.
  • Brew of the helpless:  A creature affected by this is Stunned until the beginning of your next turn.
  • Limping Brew: A creature affected by this has their movement halved for 10 minutes.
  • Vile Brew: Your sneak attack deals an additional 1d6 damage against the affected creature for 1 minute.
  • Corrupted Brew*: A creature affected by this is considered poisoned, and takes poison damage equal to your sneak attack every hour. The creature gets to repeat their saving throw every hour, ending the effect on a succes.

The poison works by being ingested or you can spend a bonus action to coat your weapon or a piece of ammunition. Each Brew is enough for 1 use or 1 coating.  A creature who has ingested the poison or hit by the coated weapon or piece of ammunition must make a constitution saving throw, your Victim has disadvantage on this saving throw. The DC for this saving throw is equal to 8 + your proficiency bonus + your intelligence modifier.

Vanishing Nightmare

13th lvl Stalking Butcher Feature:

You make sure your target does not run away from you, dissapearing before a surprise attack. As a bonus action, you can choose one creature within 90 feet of you. You make a stealth check against their perception check. If you succeed you disappear from their sight entirely. You automatically succeed against your Victim or a Blind creature. If you succeed this check you immediately end your turn. And then at the end of their next turn you appear in front of them and get to spend a reaction to make 1 attack with advantage against that creature. You can use this ability equal to an amount of your proficiency bonus, regaining all uses on a long rest.

Horrific Mutilation

17th lvl Stalking Butcher Feature:

Killing is how you artistically express yourself, to the horror of everyone around you. Whenever you kill a creature with an attack that deals sneak attack damage, you can choose to mutilate them. Doing so forces all creatures within a 60 foot radius to make a wisdom saving throw. If the creature you mutilate is your Victim, all creatures have disadvantage on this saving throw. The DC for this saving throw is equal to 8 + your proficiency bonus + your intelligence modifier. If a creature fails this saving throw, thye take additional damage equal to the roll of your sneak attack die on the hit that  killed the mutilated target. A creature can only take this additional damage once per turn. If a creature succeeds the saving throw nothing happens. You can use this ability twice per long rest.
