Blood Hunter
Base Class: Blood Hunter

The Order of the Nightingale are a cult that use their blood power to assassinate their enemies.

Throughout history the order has been contracted to carry out high target assassinations across all the lands. Not much is known about their internal structure but it is rumored that the ruler of the order is the same person that first formed it centuries ago.

Rite of the Unseen

When you join this order at 3rd level, you learn the Rite of the Unseen esoteric rite (detailed below).

Rite of the Unseen. Your rite damage is Force damage. While the rite is active, you gain the following benefit:

  • Your weapon deals one additional hemocraft die of rite damage when you hit a creature that is surprised
  • Any attack roll you make with advantage against a creature is a critical hit on a roll of 19 or 20 on the d20. This affect cannot be applied more than once per turn.

Faceless Combat

Beginning at 3rd level, your ancient order teaches you to fade away from combat. When rolling initiative, you can take one hemocraft die of damage to gain the Invisible condition. This effect lasts for a number of your turns equal to half your Blood Hunter level (rounded up). If you take damage from a hostile creature you must succeed a Dexterity saving throw (DC 15) or loose Invisibility.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Dexterity modifier (a minimum of once). You regain all expended uses when you finish a short or long rest.

Eyes of the Night

Upon reaching 7th level you can see through the deepest gloom. You have darkvision out to a range of 120 feet. In that radius, you can see in dim light as if it were bright light and in darkness as if it were dim light. This applies to magical and non-magical darkness. You can also see in full colour.

Upon reaching 11th level you gain the ability to step from one shadow into another. When you are in dim light or darkness, you take one hemocraft dice of damage and teleport up to 60 feet to an unoccupied space you can see that is also in dim light or darkness. This uses your movement for the turn.

Blood Curse of Frenzy

At 15th level, you’ve honed your hemocraft ability to send your foes into a frenzy. You gain the Blood Curse of Frenzy for your Blood Maledict feature. This doesn’t count against your number of blood curses known.

Brand of Death

Upon reaching 18th level, your Brand of Castigation now marks your foe for death. Whenever you use the Extra Attack feature to attack twice, you can instead attack three times if all the attacks are made against the branded creature. Also, a branded creature takes damage from the Brand of Castigation if it attacks an ally you can see.

You also gain additional uses of your Brand of Castigation equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum of 1). You regain all uses of this feature after you finish a short or long rest.
