Base Class: Monk
A human woman gracefully spins through the crowd, long trailing ribbons of blue energy drifting behind her, connected to her hands as she dances. at a single glance from her, the would be attackers lurking in the shadows of the alley stop, too enticed by the swirling energy to do anything.
the elven man quickly sidestepped the charging beast, red ribbons shooting from his hands, wrapping it up, unable to escape from the flurry of kicks that quickly follow.
As the soldiers advanced through the building, attempting to find their target, they instead found half a dozen Genasi fighters, surrounded by swirling arches of green energy that seemed to turn their weapons away. they were quickly routed, never noticing the seventh Genasi lurking above watching her brethren fight.
whether trained by a master, or simply talented from birth, the Way of the Flowing Fabric has roots deep within the art of Ribbon Dance. long ago such monks would use actual ribbons, however, they quickly learned to create their own indestructible ones using Ki.
Ki Ribbons
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, as a bonus action you can create long flowing ribbons of Ki. These ribbons are 12 feet long, and are whatever color you desire. they are only semi-tangible, and cannot be damaged.
Dancers Step
Also at third level, you move with supreme grace and poise in combat. if you take the dash action on your turn, and have your Ki Ribbons active, you can a +2 bonus to your AC during the move. Additionally, whenever you take the disengage action, you gain +10 movement speed until the end if your turn.
Dazzling Display
At 6th level, you've honed your movement in such a way that you can cause other creatures to falter, in awe of your performance. As a Bonus action, before you take your attack action, you can spend 1ki to attempt to create a Dazzling Display. choose a number of creatures within 30 feet of you, up to your Wisdom Modifier. if the creatures can see you, they must make a Wisdom saving throw against your Ki Save DC or gain disadvantage on the first attack roll, saving throw, or ability check they make before the start of your next turn.
Wraps of Fabric
At 11th level, you strengthen the bonds of your Ribbons. if you make a grapple check, you can use your ribbons to do so. if you do, the creature has disadvantage against the save, and your reach for this grapple is 10 feet. While grappled, you can use your bonus action, and spend 2 Ki, to cause the Ribbons to tighten dramatically, making the creature Restrained instead. While you have a creature grappled or restrained in this way, you cannot use Dazzling Display.
Thousand Ribbons
Starting at 17th level, you can spend Ki to protect other creatures. As an action you can spend 1-5 ki to create spectral free floating ribbons. you create 3 ribbons per Ki spent. as part of the same action, you can direct these ribbons to surround creatures (including yourself) you choose within 60 feet of you. a creature cannot have more than 3 ribbons around them. While they have these ribbons, they gain the following benefits:
-Their speed increases by 10 feet per ribbon.
-if they would be hit my a melee or ranged attack, they can use their reaction to reduce the damage by a roll of your martial arts die+ your wis mod.
-if they have to make a dexterity saving throw to take half damage, they take none on a success, or half on a failure.
