Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

Paladins who take up the Oath of the Phoenix serve no one other than the beliefs they hold. Phoenix Paladins or Oathsworn are commonly picked up by Elves and Half-Elves alike. Rarely will you see another race taking up the Oath of the Phoenix. Oathsworn live a life of solitude rarely seen and often act on their own initiative whether its acting as intermediaries in political or military conflict or as commanders to lords and kings to those that can afford them, only to leave once they feel it is time to move on.

Devotion. Devotion to yourself and your cause. Oathsworn are among the most devout paladins any adventurer will meet, often mistaken as Saint's.

Sacrifice. Sacrifice whatever is necessary. If an Oathsworn strongly believes in a cause they will fight to the bitter end if they need too, they never give up.

Death. To die is fate. Oathsworn are bound to the cycles of life, they believe that death will come to all.

Rebirth. To be reborn is divine. Through great service can Oathsworn find divinity. It is every Oathsworn's goal to be reborn in the flames of sacrifice.

Channel Divinity

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.

Sacred Oath. As an action, you can imbue your allies with the Light of the Phoenix, using your Channel Divinity. For 1 minute, you and your allies add half of your proficiency (rounded down) to attack rolls and AC (with a minimum bonus of +1). If you or your allies weapons are not already magical, they become magical for the duration.

You can end this effect on your turn as part of any other action. If you are no longer holding or carrying this weapon, or if you fall unconscious, this effect ends.

Wrath of the Gods. Whenever you deal lightning, radiant, or fire damage with a spell or paladin class feature to a creature you can see within 120 feet of you, you can choose to instantly cast dispel magic on that creature, without expending a spell slot or requiring components.

Oath Spells

You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed.

Oath of the Sun Spells

Augur of Sunlight

Starting at 7th level, your connection to the Phoenix empowers yourself in a variety of ways.

  • Dragonlance. Whenever you deal lightning, radiant or fire damage, you can instead deal maximum damage, instead of rolling. You can do this equal to your Charisma modifier (Minimum of 1) you regain all uses on a long rest.
  • Warrior of Light. If a creature within 5 feet of you misses you with a melee attack, you can use your reaction to force the attacker to reroll that attack against a creature of your choice that is also within 5 feet of the attacker.

Heart of Fire

Beginning at 15th level, you passively regenerate lost health equal to your spellcasting modifier at the start of each turn. Alternatively, if you are affected by a negative status effect you can instead forgo healing on that turn and instead end any and all negative effects on you.

Herald of the Dark Sun

At 20th level, as an action,

take on the aspect of the Dark Sun burning away all that stands before you. For 1-minute, dark burning energy radiates off of you in a 30-foot radius.

Whenever an enemy creature starts and ends its turn in the area, the creature takes 10 fire and 10 radiant damage. And must make a constitution saving throw or take one level of exhaustion. In addition, whenever a creature dies within the area, your radius is increased by 10-feet.
