Monk
Base Class: Monk

Monks of the Way of the Dancing Ribbon train to use long ribbons in combat, wielding their unruly length with impeccable grace and precision. Often resembling dancers in combat, Monks of this discipline can use their ribbon to disorient their opponent and manipulate the battlefield in their favor.

Combat Ribbon

At level 3, you learn to wield a ribbon in combat. You decide on the appearance of your ribbon, but it cannot be damaged or destroyed except by magical means. The length of the ribbon equals 5 times your Wisdom modifier + 5.

As a bonus action, you can snatch an item within your ribbon's reach, and summon it to you, so long as the object isn't bolted down or being worn.

In addition, you gain a new attack option that you can use with the Attack action. You can wrap your ribbon around a Large or smaller creature, forcing it to make a Strength saving throw against your Ki save or be grappled. The creature can try and break out using an action. The creature stays grappled until it succeeds on this check, or you use a bonus action to free it. If a creature is grappled by your ribbon, you cannot use your ribbon again. When you grapple a creature in this way, you may expend a ki point to enact either of the following effects as part of the same attack:

  • The restrained creature must make a Strength save against your Ki DC. On a failed save, the creature is pulled towards you a distance equal to half your total ribbon length.
  • The restrained creature must make a Dexterity saving throw against your Ki DC. On a failed save, the creature is knocked prone.

Enhanced Precision

At 6th level, you've mastered the art of snatching objects with your ribbon. You may throw any monk weapon--even if it does not have the thrown property--and use a bonus action to summon it back to you with your ribbon, if it is within your reach.

Additionally, you can use a ki point to use Deflect Missiles on a projectile that strikes an ally within your ribbon's reach.

Wire-Fu

At the 11th level, you can use your ribbon to traverse across the battlefield with ease. As a bonus action, you may fly to a target grappled by your ribbon, or to an ally within your ribbon's reach. This does not use your movement, nor does it invoke opportunity attacks.

Mystic Ribbon

Starting at 17th level, you've learned to channel your ki into your ribbon. You may expend 2 ki points to restrain a creature with your ribbon, instead of grappling it; when you restrain another creature this way, you may spend 1 additional ki points to enact either of the following effects:

  • All attacks made against the restrained creature are magical in terms of overcoming resistance.
  •  You give the restrained creature disadvantage in one type of saving throw, in addition to Dexterity.
