Base Class: Ranger
Swordplay in the hands of a Blade Dancer is an artform than just a way of life. Blade Dancers whirl and dash around, sometimes summoning magical blades to their side, cutting through the air with bewildering precision and fluidity.
Blade Dancer Magic
3rd-level Blade Dancer feature
Starting at 3rd level, you learn an additional spell when you reach certain levels in this class, as shown in the Blade Dancer Spells table. The spell counts as a ranger spell for you, but it doesn’t count against the number of ranger spells you know. You also learn hail of blades and one cantrip of your choice from the Wizard spell list.
Blade Dancer Spells
| Ranger Level | Spells |
|---|---|
| 3rd | false life |
| 5th | spiritual weapon |
| 9th | haste |
| 13th | fire shield |
| 17th | arcane hand |
Dervish Soul
3rd-Level Blade Dancer Feature
You let the energy of life flow through you to guide your weapons and your body forward. Starting at 3rd level, you gain the following benefits:
- You gain proficiency in the Acrobatics skill, if you don't already have it.
- When targeted by a melee attack, as a reaction you may contest the attack with a Dexterity (Acrobatics) check. If the result of your check beats their attack roll, you may add your proficiency bonus to your AC until the start of your next turn.
- You can give yourself a bonus to your initiative rolls equal to your Wisdom modifier.
- Any weapon lacking the heavy property with which you are proficient is considered a Finesse weapon.
Bladesurge
3rd-level Blade Dancer feature
Starting at the 3rd level, you are filled with the power of the wind. Your movement speeds each increase by 10 ft and whenever you use the attack action, you may make an attack as bonus action.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (a minimum of once). You regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Unparalleled Blades
7th-Level Blade Dancer Feature
Starting at the 7th level, your finesse weapons count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage and score a critical hit on a 19 or 20.
Evasion
11th-Level Blade Dancer Feature
Beginning at 11th level, you can nimbly dodge out of the way of certain area effects, such as an ancient red dragon’s fiery breath or an ice storm spell. When you are subjected to an effect that allows you to make a Dexterity saving throw to take only half damage, you instead take no damage if you succeed on the saving throw, and only half damage if you fail.
Not Today
15th-Level Blade Dancer Feature
Starting at 15th level, when you are reduced to 0 hit points and are not killed outright, you can choose to drop to 1 hit point instead. Once you use this ability, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
