Base Class: Monk
The way of the mystic senses seeks not just to get in touch with the spiritual but the magical as well to find balance. Mystics use the art of weaving sigil into their martial arts forms as a way to incorporate magic into their combat techniques. Magic or learning is not sought after by mystics but rather is discovered as part of their journey to find balance between material, spiritual, and magical things.
Mystic Sign Technique
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you can integrate mystic sigils into your movements and gain the following abilities:
- You gain proficiency in the arcana skill if you are not already proficient in it.
- You gain two monk cantrips of your choice. A monk cantrip is a cantrip on the list below or any other spell list that is not a ranged spell attack when it is selected with this feature. You may select an additional cantrip at level 6, 11, and 17. Wisdom is your spellcasting modifier for this feature. Your spell DC is 8 + PB + Wisdom modifier.
- Your concentration on monk cantrips can not be disrupted unless you are incapacitated, unconscious, or dead.
- You may cast a monk cantrip of any casting time as a bonus action at the cost of 1 ki.
Additional Monk Cantrips List:
Stoke the Fires - Casting Time: 1 Action, Components: V,S Spell Effect: Once in the heat of combat after initiative has been rolled you may use magic to stir the spirit within you and recover 1 ki if you are not at your ki maximum.
Patient Defense - Casting Time: 1 Action, Components: V,S Spell Effect: Until the beginning of your next turn you may reduce damage dealt to you by melee weapons by 1d10 + your dexterity modifier + your level. If you reduce the damage to 0 you may use your reaction or spend 1 ki to do damage equal to the amount prevented in a counter strike against that creature.
Mystic Form
Starting at 6th level, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn you can cast one of your monk cantrips in place of one of those attacks.
In addition your appendages used for unarmed strikes may be treated as weapons and satisfy all the material components of monk cantrips that require weapons of a particular value.
Mystic Flurry
Beginning at 11th level, when you use your flurry of blows ability you may replace one of the unarmed strikes with the casting of a monk cantrip.
Mystic Disruption
At 17th level, you gain the ability to feel the flow of magic and how to disrupt it through sigils. You may cast counter spell as a 3rd level spell for the cost of 3 ki. If someone attempts to counter your casting of counter spell then a contested arcana check is made to determine if the spell resolves or if it too is disrupted by the monks sigil.
