Warlock
Base Class: Warlock

Rather than forming pact with a singular entity, you are adept at interacting with and channeling the myriad loa (spirits) that represent everything from a single tree, an ancestor, a river, or even ideas such as love or justice. By forming temporary pacts with a loa you are granted part of their power, though always at a cost. Some simply require blood while more powerful ones will demand part of your spirit instead. Some of the most powerful loa with their names and domains are: Legba (crossing between worlds), Agwe (the sea), Bade (wind), and Ghede (death); but there are also local loa for specific people and locations.

Loa's Blessing

Starting at 1st level, you may quickly invoke the name of a local loa for aid, with a price in blood. Using your reaction, you may re-roll any d20 with a 1d4 bonus, even after you know the result. You take damage equal to your proficiency bonus that cannot be reduced in any way when you do so. After you use this ability, you may not again until you finish a short rest. The die increases to 1d6 at 5th level, 1d8 at 9th, 1d10 at 13th, and 1d12 at 17th.

Fetish Doll

Starting at 6th level, you can bind spirit to flesh with the assistance of an ancestor loa in exchange for part of your personality. Over the course of a minute you fashion a crude doll of a creature known to you, incorporating a part of their body (fingernail, hair, saliva, etc) in the process. You may only have one doll at a time, which has AC 10 and 5 hit points and crumbles to dust when you finish your next long rest. As an additional cost to create it you have disadvantage on your choice of Intelligence, Wisdom or Charisma saving throws until it is destroyed.

Until the doll is destroyed, you may spend an action to manipulate the doll and cause one of the following to the creature, provided they are on the same plane of existence as you:

  • Advantage or Disadvantage on their next attack roll
  • Advantage or Disadvantage on their next saving throw (that isn't against this ability)
  • Advantage or Disadvantage on their next ability check
  • Heal or Deal them fire or psychic damage equal to your Charisma modifier

Each time after the first that you select the same option, the creature makes a Wisdom saving throw (even if they are willing). If they succeed, the doll is destroyed and they cannot be affected by this ability again for one week.

Between Two Worlds

Starting at 10th level, you can see the loa and the spirit world. You can see into the Border Ethereal out to a range of 60 feet and can effect creatures in it as though they were in the Material Plane.

Spirit Possession

Starting at 14th level, you may open yourself to be fully possessed by a powerful loa at the cost of your life force. As an action, you invoke the name of the spirit and for the next hour you gain the following benefits:

  • You are immune to the blinded, charmed, frightened, and petrified conditions.
  • You have true sight out to 120 feet
  • Whenever you roll a d20, add 1d4 to the roll.

You may not use your Loa's Blessing or Totem Doll abilities while under the effects of Spirit Possession and when it ends, you suffer one level of exhaustion. After you use this ability, you cannot again until you finish a long rest.
