Base Class: Barbarian
"On wrongs, swift vengeance waits."
Barbarians are not just hulking brutes. They do not limit themselves to swinging greataxes and shouting at the top of their lungs. Some choose to be more precise. Some understand that swiftness and deftness is just as important as strength. Some choose the Path Of The Quick.
The barbarians who choose this Path change their focus and perspective, making dexterity the greatest source of their might, carving their way through the battlefield on wings made of the blood shed from enemies, drawn across the sky.
Burst Of Adrenaline
Starting when you choose this path at 3rd level, you can go into an adrenaline burst when you rage. If you do so, for the duration of your rage you can make a single melee weapon attack as a bonus action on each of your turns after this one and gain advantage on every Dexterity saving throw, while raging. When your rage ends, you suffer one level of exhaustion.
Adrenalised Rage
When you take this Path at 3rd level, your Rage changes with you to accomodate your shifted focus.
-You have advantage on Dexterity Checks and Dexterity Saving Throws, instead of Strength.
-When you make a melee weapon attack using Dexterity (instead of Strength), you gain a bonus to the damage roll that increases as you gain levels as a barbarian, as shown in the Rage Damage column of the Barbarian table.
Raging Speed
Beginning at 6th level, your uncanny agility allows you to dodge attacks you normally could not. When an enemy attempts to attack you, you can impose disadvantage on the attack roll. You can do this a number of times equal to your Dexterity Modifier. You recover all expended uses of this ability after you finish a long rest.
Swift Response
Beginning at 10th level, you can use your incredible speed to take advantage of your enemies lack of deftness in battle. Whenever an enemy misses you with an attack, you can immediately make a melee attack roll against them, as a reaction. You can do this a number of times equal to your Dexterity Modifier. You regain all expended uses after you finish a long rest.
Ward Of Speed
Starting at 14th level, when you go into a rage you are consumed and protected by your own speed. While raging you add your Dexterity Modifier to your AC.

Posted Apr 26, 2023Hey, just wondering if you meant something else for "Burst of Adrenaline"'s advantage on DEX saves. The text on "Adrenalised Rage" already gives advantage on DEX saves.

Posted Jun 17, 2019That is the idea, yes. It may sound OP, but you only get this ability at level 14 and it is limited by your rage uses so I think it might balance out fine. Then again it's just a question of trying it out for yourself and seeing if it does ok at that level. If you do playtest it and it seems to you like it might be gamebreaking, let me know and I'll rework that final ability somehow.

Posted Jun 12, 2019Does Ward of Speed ad your Dex modifier to your AC a second time?
So your AC would be 10 + Dex + Con (from Unarmored Defense) + Dex (from War of Speed)?

Posted Mar 28, 2019I like this one! A similar idea to this one popped into my head just this morning, and I'm already developing my version. Goblin Barbarians have never looked this good before!
