Base Class: Bard
Bards of the college of fortitude are often linked to those in the colleges of swords and valour, but their focuses take them down a different path. They focus on the ebbs and flows of combat, using a sword as readily as they use their spells, alternating smoothly between the two to reach a powerful level of combat.
Skills of War
At third level when you take this archetype, you gain proficiency in medium armour and three martial weapons of your choice. When fighting with a martial weapon you have proficiency in, you may use your charisma modifier, instead of dexterity or strength, for their attack and damage rolls. Additionally, you may use any weapon you are proficient with can be used as a spellcasting focus.
Fighting Style
You adopt a particular style of fighting as your specialty. You can’t take a Fighting Style option more than once, even if you later get to choose again. Choose one of the following options:
Defence
While you are wearing armour, you gain a +1 bonus to AC.
Duelling
When you are wielding a melee weapon in one hand and no other weapons, you gain a +2 bonus to damage rolls with that weapon.
Great Weapon Fighting
When you roll a 1 or 2 on a damage die for an attack you make with a melee weapon that you are wielding with two hands, you can reroll the die and must use the new roll. The weapon must have the two-handed or versatile property for you to gain this benefit.
Two-Weapon Fighting
When you engage in two-weapon fighting, you can add your ability modifier to the damage of the second attack.
Archery
You gain a +2 bonus to attack rolls you make with ranged weapons.
Archery
You gain a +2 bonus to attack rolls with bows.
Defence
While wearing armour you gain a +1 bonus to AC.
Duelling
When attacking with a melee weapon you have in one hand, and you are not holding another weapon, you gain a +2 bonus to damage rolls with that weapon.
Great Weapon Fighting
While using a weapon that has the heavy or two handed trait, you may reroll any 1’s or 2’s you roll when rolling for damage, taking the new roll even if it is a 1 or a 2.
Two Weapon Fighting
You may add your ability score modifier to the damage of the second weapon when engaging in two-weapon fighting.
Inspiration of War
At third level you also gain the ability to use your command and assistance of your allies to your own benefit. When using your bardic inspiration on an ally within 5 feet of yourself, you gain a bonus to your next damage roll equal to the amount rolled on the inspiration die.
Extra Attack
At sixth level, you are able to attack twice, instead of once, when you take the Attack action on your turn. You may also replace one of these attacks with a cantrip.
Wisdom of War
At fourteenth level, you learn to influence smaller things on the battlefield that lead to bigger effects. When a creature within 5 feet of you takes the attack action, you can force a wisdom saving throw on that target. On a failure, the target instead either attack a creature of your choice or misses the attack.
You may use this feature a number of times equal to your charisma modifier.
