Base Class: Monk
Monks of the Way of War are Monks which are natural opposites to the Way of Mercy. They are first in line for combat and find their abilities suited for front lines warfare and combat. They are strong and merciless.
Those who follow the Way of War might be members of a battalion, not being there in the war room but being there in the war itself. Some might be gruff and lost spirits, finding combat their only reprieve, while others might be pugilists who fight in the wars of gang and crime.
Redirect Missiles
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you are naturally more gifted at manipulating the battle field. You gain a number of buffs and bonuses to your Deflect Missiles feature.
- You can use deflect missiles on attacks targeting creatures other than you, as long as they are within 5 feet of you. (This reach increases to 10 feet at level 11.)
- You now reduce the damage of the attack by 2d10 + Your Dexterity Modifier + Your Monk Level.
- You add your Dexterity Modifier twice when calculating damage for throwing the missile back.
Forged in War
At 6th level, you can keep going even after you have expunged your resources. Once per long rest, you can use an Action to tap into your Ki Point reserve and regain a number of Ki Points equal to a third of your Monk Level, rounded up.
Bone Breaker
Beginning at 11th level, you can imbue your strikes with such intense Ki that they can't not shatter the bones of your foes. When you hit a creature with an Unarmed Attack, you can expend three Ki Points to deal 3d8 extra bludgeoning damage to the target, in addition to the attack’s damage. If you hit, the target must roll a Constitution Saving Throw contested by your Ki Save DC. If they fail, you must roll 1d6, which number corresponds to a negative status condition listed below on the Bone Breaker Table.
Bone Breaker Table.
Number Rolled | Status Condition |
---|
1 |
Blinded |
2 |
Deafened |
3 |
Incapacitated |
4 |
Prone |
5 |
Restrained |
6 |
Paralyzed |
Conditions listed above that cannot be broken out of by the target are dropped at the start of your next turn. If your attack was a critical hit, then the target automatically fails their saving throw and you pick which condition is applied to them.
Unarmored Champion
At 17th level, your body has achieved impossible levels of resistance. You now add your proficiency bonus to your Armor Class, if you qualify for Unarmored Defense.
