Monsters come in all shapes and sizes but not all of them are physical. Many monsters are the in our own minds. They are the conscience fighting over what is right and wrong, they are the mind pleading for its poisonous addiction, they are the raw primal instincts that allow for the most heinous of crimes to be committed. Dreams are another monster that all creatures have., Dreams are the unknown or deep desires of many, and can shape a man of righteousness into a fearful zealot overnight. Dreams can cause a just king to become a genocidal tyrant if that dream makes them feel threatened. Even children can become monster from the aspects of their dreams. Wealth and joy may encourage underhanded tactics to be employed throughout life. Passion may lead one to force themselves upon another in the name of love. In the midst of all the danger with dreams though there are those that seek to claim and conquer the madness. The Order of the Mad Dreams as they call it shape their own dreams, fears, and hopes into their weapons for vanquishing the physical threats.

Manifest of Dreams

When you join this order at 3rd level, you learn to manifest your dreams as a part of your weapons. You gain one of the following features.

Grace

Elegance in all forms dances through your sleeping mind. All things have poise, all things have an elegant form for your dreaming eye. Even a simple pebble is gleams like a diamond. Why hold this elegance as an unreal expectation though? Taking the hand of elegance ever so softly you influence the very items you hold. Your weapons gain the finesse property when you wield them. If the weapon you a using already has the finesse property your proficiency modifier is added to damage rolls made with finesse weapons.

Power

Your dreams are those befitting of a tyrant, warlord, crime lord, or a king. You have power in the palm of your hand in these dreams. But why limit your power to just your dream. No instead you tear it from your sleeping mind into your awake hand. All creatures will buckle under your might in due time, your weapon attacks score a critical hit on a roll of 19 or 20.

Truth

Your dreams are not bland nor are they exciting. They are simply as you truly see them. A spade is nothing more than a spade there. A thing dropped will always hit the ground. Fire will always burn. This clarity can be brought forth into your very being. Your eyes perceive the world as its true form. You can instill this truth into a melee weapon of your choice. Choose one weapon to have True Sight. Use your Wisdom modifier ({{modifier:wis})} as your ability modifier for attack and damage rolls with the selected weapon.

Echoes of Dreams

Beginning at 7th level, you learn Vicious Mockery cantrip and the Blur. Use your wisdom modifier {{modifier:wis}} as your spell ability modifier. You can cast Blur once per a short rest.

The Rage of the Nightmare

Upon reaching 11th level, you’ve delved far too deep into your own dreams. You've seen the darkness that lies within them, the nightmare. Fear and anger pierce your soul as it is ravaged by the fury of your subconscious. You will not be overcome by this being placid or simply wading through. Instead you must grab the source of the nightmare within your hand and call it for your own. When you make an attack and your Crimson Rite is activated, before you take the Attack action you can choose to take two points of exhaustion to count each successful attack as a critical hit. This feature cannot be used again until the next dawn.

Stranger in Dreams

At 15th level, you gain the features of a creature that has invaded your dreams, choose from one of the following.

Aboleth

The aboleths were and still are beings that enjoy enslaving other races. They're mental strength is similar to that of the Illithid except they choose to dominate minds instead of feed upon them. This invader has attempted to make its own, a puppet attached to its strings. You have overcome this though and your mind is stronger for it. When you hit with a weapon attack, you can attempt to dominate the creature's mind. The target creature must make a WIS saving throw (DC {{savedc:wis}}), on successful save the target creature is unphased, on a failed save the target creature is charmed by you. A creature charmed by you must attack a target of your choice. The afflicted creature can attempt to reroll the saving throw at the end of each of its turns or when it takes damage. This feature can be used two times per long rest and only one creature can be controlled at a time.

Deathkiss

Deathkisses, while lesser to their beholder counterparts, are just as worthy of being called great beings of terror. Their tentacles not only consume the life of others but cause incredible agony. What better stranger then for a hunter that revels in their own pain to create power to kill. Your body can mimic the tentacles of the Deathkiss. As a bonus action you can force your nails to grow into talons, your arms to stretch out inhumanly, and electricity to spark wildly from your arms. This effect can be undone as another bonus action. Your tentacle arm form deals 1d6 +Strength modifier ({{modifier:str}}) piercing damage and 1d10 +Wisdom modifier ({{modifier:wis}}) lightning damage.

Illithid

Illithids are potentially the most dangerous being to invade one's dreamscape. There are few beings with their mental prowess. Overcoming the Illithid is a testament of strength to your mind. However your mind has become altered but powerful. You learn to harness the powers of your mind to cast your dreams upon others. Choose a creature that you can see within 30 ft, that creature must make an INT saving throw or take 2d6 damage as a figure of your dreams pierces their mind.

Dreamers Refuge

Upon reaching 18th level, your dreams appear to have a starting point. This starting point appears to be a small village of sorts almost familiar to you. Whispers float around in the air constant and claim you are always welcome here. When you drop to 0 hp you immediately die and appear in the mental village. After a day you can choose to come back to life with your dreams manifesting a new body for yourself. However this trait can only be used once a month and if you die during the recharge time your character remains dead until a Resurrection spell or greater spell is cast on you.
