Base Class: Rogue
When people in power feel the need to influence others through fear, they often employ Enforcers to do their dirty work. Enforcers may work as extortionists for a gang, debt collectors for a loan shark, or bouncers at a seedy tavern. They may be employed by legitimate authorities as tax collectors, interrogators, or riot breakers. Occasionally, they may work independently as muggers or highwaymen. Regardless of their position in society, Enforcers leverage their imposing appearance to cajole, coerce, and threaten others. And if their mark refuses to comply, an Enforcer has no problem following through on their threats with violence.
Intimidating
When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in the Intimidation skill if you don't already have it. You may also add your Strength or Constitution bonus to any Charisma (Intimidation) checks you make.
Menace
Starting at 3rd level, you can use an action to target a creature you can see within 60 feet and who understands a language you speak. Make a Charisma (Intimidation) check opposed by the target's Wisdom (Insight); if you succeed, the target is frightened of you. Whether you succeed or fail, the target cannot be affected by your Menace ability again for 24 hours.
While frightened by this ability, a creature is susceptible to your Sneak Attack even if you do not have advantage on the attack roll and there are no other enemies of the creature within 5 feet of it, and you do not need to be using a finesse or ranged weapon.
At the end of each of its turns, a creature frightened by this ability may make another Wisdom (Insight) check against the same Charisma (Intimidation) check that originally caused it to be frightened. If it succeeds, it is no longer frightened. The check automatically succeeds if the target ends its turn more than 60 feet away from you and you are no longer within sight of the creature.
Fighting Style
Also at 3rd level, you learn more efficient techniques to back up your threats of violence by adopting a particular Fighting Style. Choose one of the following options.
You can't take a Fighting Style option more than once, even if you later get to choose again.
Blind Fighting, Great Weapon Fighting, Thrown Weapon Fighting, Two-Weapon Fighting, Unarmed Fighting
You Were Warned
At 9th level, you become adept at following through on your threats. When you are attacked by a creature that has been targeted by your Menace ability within the past 24 hours, you can use your reaction to make a single melee weapon or unarmed attack against them, provided they are within reach. This attack can benefit from your Sneak Attack even if you do not have advantage on the attack roll and there are no other enemies of the target within 5 feet of it, and you do not need to be using a finesse weapon. You can take this reaction even if the target is not currently frightened by your Menace ability.
Without a Word
At 13th level, you have honed your physique, mannerisms, and reputation such that you can intimidate others through body language alone. You can now use your Menace ability as an action or as a bonus action, though you can only use it once per turn. Additionally, you do not need to speak a language your target understands, though they must be within 60 feet and able to see you. Menace can be used in this way even against creatures that do not speak or understand any language.
Crowd Control
At 17th level, you learn techniques for dealing with multiple enemies at once. If you use your action to use the Menace ability, you can target any number of creatures within 30 feet of you who can see you. You make a single Charisma (Intimidation) check; each target rolls a separate opposed Wisdom (Insight) check to avoid being frightened.
Additionally, when you use the Attack action, instead of your normal number of attacks, you may make a single melee weapon or unarmed attack against any number of targets within 5 feet of you. None of these attacks can benefit from your Sneak Attack.
