Cleric
Base Class: Cleric

Clerics of the Wine Domain often gain their strengths from the God of Joy and Misery, and lesser saints under his guidance. Tragedy and Comedy. Love and Heartbreak. Wine Clerics are granted boons through the chaos that surrounds their gods. This does not mean, however, that a cleric of the Wine Domain must be an agent of Chaos.

Meet Cathilde, Halfling Cleric patronized by the Saint of the Vineyard. She spends her days piously cultivating and tending to the vineyards of her commune. Tasked with providing ceremonial wines to other orders in the pantheon. When called upon, she will take up arms to protect the sacred lands in which many vineyards sit.

Meet Pevral, Human Cleric and court priest patronized by the Saint of Feasts. He spends his life at the court of a noble king, serving to bless the banquet halls and bring upon an air of peace during intense political dealings. Trained in the art of persuasion, Pevral is an integral member at his king’s table.

Life of the Party

A cleric of the Wine Domain is raised to believe that power comes from one’s force of presence.

At 1st level, when you choose this domain, you may change your spell casting proficiency to Charisma instead of Wisdom.

Additionally, you gain proficiency in the deception or persuasion skill.

From Water to Wine

Never catch yourself without a refreshing goblet of wine.

At 1st level, when you choose this domain, gain the ability to transmute a cup of water into restorative wine a number of times equal to ½ your cleric level rounded down (cannot be less than 1) per long rest. The restorative wine can be imbibed by a creature in order to regain hit points equal to 1d8 plus your charisma modifier.

Channel Divinity: Man’s Best Friend

Wine Domain clerics can be distinguished by their deep friendships with creatures of the fey. The chaotic energies granted by their gods tend to manifest in the form of a familiar. Often they take form as shepherd dogs or faerie dragons, though form does not matter.

Starting at 2nd level, you can use your Channel Divinity to cast the Find Familiar spell free of material cost. Once per long rest, your familiar helps you automatically succeed on a Charisma skill check or saving throw.

As your Channel Divinity gains extra uses at 6th and 18th level, you may expend a use of this feature to gain another automatic success.

Professional Drinker

Your days of drinking by the campfire and at important political meetings have fortified your constitution. Your digestive system has been lined with fortifying wine.

Starting at 6th level, you gain poison resistance. If you’ve imbibed poison by mouth you are immune to its effects. Additionally, if you’ve imbibed a poison in this way, you may identify its properties and ingredients.

Confounding Presence

The chaos surrounding your domain has made your mood erratic and your actions difficult to read.

Starting at 8th level, you gain immunity to the effects of charm. Additionally, creatures must roll with disadvantage when making insight checks on you.

Heavenly Vintage

You’ve done it! You’ve managed to craft a wine that would make the gods weep. Years of recipe tweaking have paid off. You learn how to craft a potent and delicious wine with multiple practical uses.

Starting at 17th level, you craft a batch (approximately 8 cups or 2 bottles) of this wine. Drinking this wine restores the drinker to full health. In addition, choose 1 of these brews every time you prepare a batch:

    • Royal Red Reserve: A hearty merlot. Those that drink this wine are granted the perks of the Heroes’ Feast spell. Temporary hit point maximum granted by the spell is doubled.
    • Doryin’s Bite: A bright plum wine. Those that drink this wine are granted the ability to cast these spells one time each. If the spell requires a save, use the cleric’s ability modifier.
      • Mirror Image, Dimension Door, Dominate Person.
    • The Eastern Winds: A semi-sweet riesling. Those that drink this wine gain 20ft. to movement speed, +3 to initiative rolls, and advantage on dexterity saving throws for 24 hours.
    • Heart of the Dragon: Type of wine dependent upon dragon type. Those that drink this wine are imbued with draconic energy. Choose a chromatic dragon color. For 1 hour, gain elemental resistances based on that typing and a corresponding breath weapon equal to 8d6 damage with a DEX saving throw based on the cleric’s spell modifier. Breath weapon recharges on D6 roll of 5-6.

Once crafted, the wine never goes bad. Work with your DM to come up with the ingredients needed to craft this wine. Special ingredients shouldn’t be in massive supply and can be moderately difficult to acquire. The DM can allow the purchase of materials needed at a cost that makes sense to them. If none of the options listed interest you, work with your DM to craft your own specialty. You should be able to produce this wine at a rate of your DM’s choosing. Once per in game month is recommended.
