Base Class: Ranger
While many see them as a menace or danger, many rangers have a deeper understanding of the humble slime. With a wisdom that comes with understanding nature and its facets, understand that oozes are a natural aspect of natures cleansers; decomposing what weather and decay cannot. These rangers find the slimey critters fascinating and learn to domesticate and tame them, travelling with them as companions, pets, and friends.
Student of Slimes
3rd-Level Ooze Wrangler Feature
Your time around slimes and oozes has given you a deeper understanding of their lives. You have advantage on ability checks related to the behaviour, habitats, and handling of oozes.
Ooze Companion
3rd-Level Ooze Wrangler Feature
As an action, you can magically summon the drake that is bound to you. It appears in an unoccupied space of your choice within 30 feet of you.
The ooze is friendly to you and your companions, and it obeys your commands. See its game statistics in the accompanying Ooze Companion stat block, which uses your proficiency bonus (PB) in several places. You can determine the cosmetic characteristics of the ooze, such as its color, its texture, or its consistency; your choice has no effect on its game statistics.
In combat, the ooze shares your initiative count, but it takes its turn immediately after yours. It can move and use its reaction on its own, but the only action it takes on its turn is the Dodge action, unless you take a bonus action on your turn to command it to take another action. That action can be one in its stat block or some other action. If you are incapacitated, the ooze can take any action of its choice, not just Dodge.
While the ooze is within 5 feet of you, you can magically pull the ooze into a normal flask. The ooze cannot move or take any actions until the flask is broken, or you use your action to release it into a space within 5 feet of you.
The ooze remains until it is reduced to 0 hit points, until you use this feature to summon the ooze again, or until you die. Anything the ooze was wearing or carrying is left behind when the ooze vanishes.
Once you summon the ooze, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest, unless you expend a spell slot of 1st level or higher to summon it.

Gelatinous Alliance
7th-Level Ooze Wrangler Feature
The connection you share with your ooze becomes closer, empowering both of you with new vigour. While your ooze is summoned, you and the ooze gain the following benefits:
Corrosive Swipe. The ooze’s Pseudopod attack deals an extra 1d4 damage acid damage.
Elemental Affinity. When you summon your ooze, choose cold, fire, or lightning damage. When the ooze would deal acid damage, you can choose for it to instead deal the chosen damage type. You and the ooze both gain resistance to the chosen damage type.
Ooze Mount. The ooze grows to Medium size. Reflecting your special bond, you can use the ooze as a mount if your size is Medium or smaller. While you are riding your ooze, it can’t use its climbing speed or its Spider Climb trait.
Symbiotic Restoration
11th-Level Ooze Wrangler Feature
Your ooze companion has grown rather fond of you, and gives up its own energy to seal your wounds. As an action, your ooze can enter your body and reconstruct it, restoring any lost limbs except your head. The ooze immediately dies, and you regain a number of hit points equal to the hit points the ooze had before it died, up to your hit point maximum.
Furthermore, your ooze does not disappear when you die. If you are dead, and have died in the last minute, this ability instead returns you to life with hit points equal to 1d10 + your ranger level.
Once you have been healed this way, you cannot be healed again until you finish a long rest.
Caustic Bond
15th-Level Drakewarden Feature
You and your ooze join together in a covenant of power, fusing your might into one. While your ooze is summoned, you and the ooze gain the following benefits:
Elemental Amalgamate. The ooze gains resistance to cold, fire, and lightning damage, and you gain resistance to each damage type your ooze is resistant to (except slashing). When the ooze would deal acid damage, you can choose for it to instead deal your choice of cold, fire, or lightning damage.
Large Ooze. The ooze grows to Large size. When you ride your ooze, it is no longer prohibited from using its climbing speed or its Spider Climb trait.
Vicious Acidity. The ooze's Pseudopod attack deals an extra 1d4 acid damage (for a total of 2d4 extra damage).
