Base Class: Bard
The College of Metal is the home of bards who delved deep into magical music forbidden by most normal folk. Perhaps you travelled into the Nine Hells to hone your unholy craft tutored by devils and hell spawn in secret melodies of noise and rage. Or maybe you were taught the ancient music from the Storm Giants that could sunder the sky with a rapturous melody. Perhaps even you have been stealing techniques from liches and necromancers hidden deep within the Underdark. However you perfected your art you learned to use your violent magic to thunderous effect with earth shattering noise and barbaric melodies.
The bards of this college are regarded with fear from most naïve onlookers. Their performances are known for an intensity the likes of which the material plane rarely witnesses. These bards can shatter those who dare close the distance or even inspire frightful strength in their allies. They are such that their presence is both intimidating and yet alluring, with the temptation of the unknown and darker things being evident in their attire and mannerisms. Bards of this College find themselves at home with the black sheep of societies, passionate outliers of of the blacker arts. But their performances are once in a lifetime experiences for most and unlike anything common mortals have ever seen. So when one does come into town, those forgotten denizens of morbid places flock to their call, awaiting the cacophonous orchestra that follows.
Calamitous Chord
When you join the College of Metal at 3rd level, you learn to play with unfettered ferocity and volume. You learn the Thunderclap cantrip and can now cast it as a bonus action. If you already knew it then you can choose another cantrip from the bard spell list, but only Thunderclap can be cast as a bonus action.
Bloody Ballad
Also at 3rd level you gain the ability to magically infuse your music with such intensity that it becomes unbearable to those nearby. As an action you can spend a bardic inspiration die to concentrate on a performance that grants the following benefits:
- Any creature than ends it's turn within 5 feet of you takes thunder damage equivalent to your bardic inspiration die.
- You can add your Charisma modifier to the damage rolls for Thunderclap.
As an action you can continue this performance on subsequent turns for a duration of up to 1 minute. If you lose concentration or do not use your action to continue the performance the effect ends.
Murderous Melody
Starting at 6th level, your Bloody Ballad has been infused with violent magic, empowering the strikes of your allies.
While performing your Bloody Ballad a number of creatures you choose equal to your proficiency bonus within 30 ft can add thunder damage equal to your bardic inspiration die to their weapon attacks.
Rapturous Riff
At 14th level, you have mastered the art of weaving powerful magic into your strikes. Now when performing the Bloody Ballad, you can spend another bardic inspiration when a creature fails it's saving throw against your Thunderclap to deal an additional 6d6 thunder damage. Additionally, as a reaction you can spend a bardic inspiration to bestow this extra damage to an allied creature's successful melee weapon attack if they are currently under the effects of the Murderous Melody.
