Barbarian
Base Class: Barbarian

A storm rolls over a darkened sky- under it, stands a group of people. The followers of a lightning bird. Their faith gave them power, their rage sparked a storm, and the will of the lightning bird lives within them. Not much is said about these people. Not much is known. But the bird's power has sustained them.

Electric Squall

Starting when you choose this path at 3rd level, your rage creates a dark lightning storm around you in an aura. The aura extends 30 feet from you in every direction, but not through total cover. While this Aura is active, you are immune to lightning damage.

When you enter your rage, you can choose one other creature that you can see in your aura. The target must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC equals 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier). The target takes 1d6 lightning damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. The damage increases when you reach certain levels in this class, increasing to 2d6 at 7th level, 3d6 at 11th level, 4d6 at 15th level, and 5d6 at 19th level. You can activate the effect again on each of your turns as a bonus action.

Polarization

Starting at 6th level, you can release polarizing energy when you are struck. As a reaction to getting hit by a melee attack, you can force the creature that hit you to make a Constitution saving throw (DC equals 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Constitution modifier) or gain vulnerability to the next instance of lightning damage they take within the next minute. The creature has disadvantage on the save if they are wearing armor made of metal. When a creature fails the save, you cannot use this ability until you finish a short or long rest. At 15th level, you can use this ability twice between rests.

Additionally, when you use Reckless attack, you can change the damage type of the attack to lightning damage.

Galvanic Body

At 10th level, you gain resistance to lighting, cold, and fire damage. Additionally, you learn the following spells, that you can cast while raging. Your spellcasting ability is Constitution and you do not need material or verbal components to cast these spells;

  • Shocking Grasp (at will)
  • Thunderwave (3/short rest)
  • Shatter (2/short rest)
  • Lightning Bolt (2/short rest)

Electronegative

At 14th level, when an ally within your Electric Squall's area takes lightning, cold, or fire damage, you can choose to magically take that damage instead. You can do this once per round, and you regain the ability to do so at the start of your turn.

Additionally, your abilities that do lightning damage ignore resistance to lightning damage. At 19th level, they ignore immunity.
