Base Class: Ranger
Great Lizard Keeper (Dino Warden)
You have trained for years to understand what motivates Dinosaurs, how to direct them, and above all how to respect them. You have a Dinosaur Companion you have raised from an egg. This Dinosaur saw you first upon hatching, which immediately imprinted you in its mind as its master. You live closely with your companion, Nurturing, training and watching it grow from a hatchling to a Large beast capable of crushing your foes, or aiding you on the hunt.
Dino Basics
-Reptilian Comprehension
3rd-level Dino Warden feature
Your connection to Nature and your training has given you a fundamental understanding of Dinosaur's body language, vocalizations, and needs.
-
You and your Dinosaur have the innate ability to communicate basic ideas to one another, i.e. impending threats, mood, and needs.
-
You have proficiency in Animal Handling, and advantage on non-combat difficulty checks involving beasts.
-Dino Companion
3rd-level Dino Warden feature
You are granted a Dinosaur egg, after a short attunement period (2 days) it hatches. The Dinosaur is friendly to you and your companions, and it obeys your commands. Upon your egg hatching, you will be able to assign one of four species types to your Dinosaur.
- Ankylosaurus
- Raptor
- Dilophosaurus
- Pteranodon
The Dinosaur obeys your commands as best as it can. It takes its turn on your initiative. On your turn, you can verbally command the Dinosaur where to move (no action required by you). You can use your action to verbally command it to take the Attack action, or another action stated on the Dinosaurs stat block. If you don't issue a command, the Dinosaur takes the Dodge action. Once you have the Extra Attack feature, you can make one weapon attack yourself when you command the Dinosaur to take the Attack action. The Dinosaur shares your proficiency bonus, and adds it to attack rolls.
Your Dinosaur companion is persistent, and cannot be summoned if it dies. If your Dinosaur's hit points fall to zero and it fails a death saving throw, it dies. It must Revived within one day, or its remains taken to a DM specified Cleric/Druid/ healer, or you must obtain a new egg. The Egg will Hatch After 2 days, and then the Dinosaur will grow up one size every 7 days until it has reached the appropriate size for your Ranger level.
This Feature includes your dino's basic abilities upon hatching, and a description can be found on your Dino's stat block.
