Monk
Base Class: Monk

The way of the Lucid Dreamer is an ancient tradition, focused on exploring the world of dreams and learning about oneself through it. Through special meditation techniques, members of this monastic tradition manage to unlock the part of their mind that creates their dreams, and can gain greater control over them. This allows monks of the Way of the Lucid Dreamer to impact the real world by imposing their will upon it, and pulling the stuff of dreams into reality.

Dream Wanderer

Starting at 3rd level, whenever you finish a long rest during which you spent time sleeping (or your race's equivalent to sleep), you can draw inspiration from your dreams to gain a tool proficiency of your choice. Starting at 11th level, you may choose an additional tool proficiency.

You retain the chosen proficiencies until you sleep (or your race's equivalent) during a long rest again, at which point you must choose new, different tool proficiencies. Starting at 17th
level, you gain expertise with the chosen tools instead, adding double your proficiency bonus to checks made with them.

In addition, you always have full control and awareness of your dreams while sleeping. You cannot be affected by spells and magical effects that require you to dream, like the dream spell, unless you allow it.

Additional Tool Proficiency

Gain an additional proficiency in a tool of your choice at level 11.

Tool Expertise

Gain expertise in 2 tools of your choice.

Tool Proficiency

Gain proficiency in a tool of your choice.

Dream State

Starting at 3rd level, you can meditate to enter a dream-like trance while still awake. As an action, you can enter your Dream State, gaining the following benefits for 1 hour.

  • You cannot be surprised, and you add your proficiency bonus to initiative rolls.
  • Being unconscious while above 0 hit points does not impose any penalty on you.
  • You have advantage on saving throws against being incapacitated, paralyzed, petrified, or stunned. You can enter your Dream State even while asleep. Your Dream State ends early if you are killed. You can also willingly end it at any time (no action required). You can use this feature once, and gain a second use of it once you reach level 11 in this class. You regain expended uses when you finish a short or long rest

Put to Sleep

Also at 3rd level, you can manipulate other creature's ki to lull them into sleep. As an action, you can spend 1 ki point to cast the sleep spell. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for this spell.

You can spend additional ki points to cast sleep as a higherlevel spell. Each additional ki point you spend increases the spell's level by 1. The maximum number of ki points (1 plus any additional points) that you can spend on the spell equals half your monk level, up to 9.

Mind's Eye

At 6th level, you gain the ability to separate your senses from yourself. As an action, you can spend 4 ki points to cast the clairvoyance spell without needing material components, gaining both the seeing and hearing parts of the spell.

Spiritual Awakening

By 11th level, you have gained the ability to pierce the veil of the dream world to enter it, or bring a part of it into reality. You gain the following benefits:

Dream Walk. You can cast the dream spell without any components while taking a long rest, with you acting as the messenger. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for this spell.

Nightmare Strikes. When you hit a creature with a monk weapon or unarmed strike, you can choose to change the damage type of all of the attack's damage to psychic.

Spirit Aid. While in your Dream State, you add your Wisdom modifier to any ability check you make that lets you add your proficiency bonus.

Dream Reality

At 17th level, your mastery over dreams and sleep reaches its peak. You gain the following benefits:

Eternal Dreamer. You no longer need to breathe or sleep, and you are always in your Dream State.

Manifest Dreams. You can spend 7 ki points to cast the major image spell as a 6th-level spell, without any components. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for this spell.
