Base Class: Blood Hunter
The secrets of hemocraft reveal themselves over years of dedicated study. To the Sequestered Apostle Roderick, the Red Omen was a secret in the sky visible only after a lifetime of ascetic study and ritual bloodletting. The gospel of Roderick states:
Just as the sun and moon appear above our heads just out of reach, the Red Omen hangs low in the sky. This Omen reveals itself to only those followers with an all-consuming conviction. We express our conviction by devoting our lives to that in which we believe. And what is blood, if not a symbol of life?
Rite of Blood
When you join this order at 3rd level, you learn Rite of Blood as part of your Crimson Rite feature. When you activate the Rite of Blood, you take necrotic damage equal to 2 rolls of your hemocraft die (not one roll). The extra damage dealt by your rite is slashing damage.
Additionally, when you hit a creature that has blood using a weapon for which the Rite of Blood is active, you may take 1 necrotic damage then gain an amount of temp HP equal to one roll of your hemocraft die.
Cursed Sacrifice
Spill your and your opponent’s blood as an offering to the Red Omen. Once per turn, when you hit a creature that has blood with a melee attack you may roll any number of hemocraft die up to your proficiency bonus. Deal necrotic damage to the creature and to yourself equal to the result.
Retaliation
When you are hit with a melee attack by a creature that has blood, as a Reaction you may expend one use of Blood Maledict to deal damage to the creature equal to one roll of your Hemocraft die and gain temp HP equal to the damage you deal.
Amplify. The creature must make a Constitution saving throw. If it fails, it cannot attack again this turn.
Foresight of Omen
By level 11, you can’t help but notice omens everywhere in everyday happenings and objects. The omens guide you. When you make an Intelligence (Arcana), (History) or (Investigation) check, you may expend a use of Blood Maledict to gain advantage on the roll.
Transfusion
Upon reaching 15th level, you learn to transfer a portion of your lifeblood to others. As a Bonus Action, you may touch a creature and roll a hemocraft die. Take necrotic damage and heal the creature an amount equal to the amount you rolled.
Red Omen Survivor
At level 18, you learn to use the sign of the Red Omen to overcome pain. Once per round, as a Reaction when you are hit by a melee attack that would deplete your temp HP, you may expend one use of Blood Maledict to instead drop to 1 temp HP and take no additional damage.
