Base Class: Monk
Through your monastic training, you can channel your ki into a special set of markings that are taught from generation to generation, unique to your monastery. These marks or sigils are four sets of magical seals that when put together can cause immense harm to your enemies.
Four Seals
Your monastic training has taught you how to translate your ki into a special set of markings that are taught from generation to generation unique to your monastery. These marks or sigils are four sets of magical seals that you can manifest in any part of your body that you use to attack your enemies.
Starting at 3rd level, when you hit a creature with an attack, you can spend 1 ki points to place a set of four different seals. Only one seal can be placed per one attack (i.e with the cost of 1 ki point, you need to land four attacks to place all four seals). The seals persist for 1 minute, and a creature marked with a seal can make a Wisdom saving throw at the end of its turn against your ki save DC to remove one seal.
When you place the fourth and final seal, the ki that you plant inside the seals will overflow and explode into a burst of energy. A creature with four seals instantly takes 2 Martial Arts dice of Force damage, and the seals are removed.
You can only mark one creature at a time and if you place a seal onto a creature other than the previously marked creature, the first creature loses all of its seals and the counter resets onto the new target.
Marked Down
The ki inside the seals that you plant in you enemies now gravitates towards its origin, you. When you reach 6th level, you can give yourself an advantage against a creature that has at least one seal as a bonus action. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of 1). You regain all expended uses on a long rest.
Alternatively, you may spend ki points equal to the number of uses. If you regain uses this way, you gain 1 exhaustion point every time you spend ki points to regain uses, regardless of the number of ki spent (i.e if you spend 5 ki points to regain 5 uses, you still gain 1 exhaustion point. If you spend another 2 ki points to regain 2 uses afterwards, you gain another 1 exhaustion point.)
Death Steps Unleashed
Your honed mastery of the Four Seals now unlocks a set of new potentials. At 11th level, your seals earn special abilities. When you place seals on a creature, you can spend ki points to gain the following benefits:
- First seal (1 ki): The target's movement speed is reduced by 10 feet.
- Second seal (1 ki): The target has disadvantage on Ability checks.
- Third seal (1 ki): The target has disadvantage on attack rolls.
- Fourth seal (2 ki): The target has disadvantage on saving throws until the start of its next turn.
Two-Hit Four-Steps Destruction
You have mastered your ki channeling into the Four Seals. At 17th level, the Four Seals now also explodes on the second seal, allowing it to explode twice (second and fourth seal).
You also no longer gain exhaustion point when you use ki points to regain your Marked Down feature.
