Artificer
Base Class: Artificer

You care not for precise science and engineering. Instead, you focus on weaving the enormous magical power of the universe into slapdash inventions that can wield devastating power to potentially disastrous results.

Tool Proficiency

You gain proficiency in brewer’s supplies. If you already have this proficiency, you gain proficiency with one other type of artisan’s tools of your choice.

Unpredictable Malfunction

Starting at 3rd level, Every time you cast a spell with a spell slot of first level or higher, gain a number malfunction points equal to the level of the spell slot you expended, and then roll a d20.  If the result of the roll is less than or equal to the number of malfunction points you have, roll on the Wild Magic Surge table.
Every time you roll on the Wild Magic Surge table or finish a long rest, you lose all of your malfunction points.

Fragile Fabrication

At 3rd level As an action, you can expend a spell slot and infuse an item you’re touching with an infusion you don’t know, but meet the level prerequisite for. If you are infusing an item with an infusion that has a level prerequisite, you must expend a higher level spell slot: 2nd level spell slot or higher for a 6th level infusion, 3rd level spell slot or higher a for 10th level infusion, and 4th level spell slot or higher for a 14th level infusion.
Every time you infuse an item this way, roll on the Wild Magic Surge table. An item infused this way keeps the infusion for 10 minutes or until you use this feature again.

Potent Variables

Starting at 5th level, once per turn when you deal damage with a spell or magic item, you can roll 1 additional damage die of one of those types for that spell or attack.

Refined Malfunction

At 9th level, whenever you roll on the Wild Magic Surge table, after you see the result, you can choose to roll again. If you do, you must take the result of the second roll.

Convenient Malfunction

At 15th level, whenever you would roll on the Wild Magic surge table, you can choose to instead pick an option on the table and have that be the result. Once you use this feature, you can’t do so again until you finish a short or long rest.

Experimenter Spells

You always have certain spells prepared after you reach particular levels in this class, as shown in the Experimenter Spells table. These spells count as artificer spells for you, but they don’t count against the number of artificer spells you prepare.
