Base Class: Bard
Gourmands are known for their healthy appetite for adventure and food. Coincidentally, they go hand in hand for a Bard of the Gourmand College, as these Bards favor the monsters they slay for their meals.
Gourmand Spells
Your knowledge of cuisine and culinary craft grants you access to certain spells. At 3rd level when you join this College, you learn the Prestidigitation cantrip if you don't already know it. You gain access to the spells listed below based on spell level in the Gourmand Spells table.
Once you gain access to one of these spells, you always have it prepared, and it doesn’t count against the number of spells you know. If you gain access to a spell that doesn’t appear on the Bard spell list, the spell is nonetheless a Bard spell for you.
Gourmand Spells
| SPELL Level | Spells |
|---|---|
| 1st | detect poison/disease, purify food/drink |
| 2nd | continual flame, protection from poison |
| 3rd | create food/water, haste |
| 4th | fabricate, mordenkainen's private sanctum |
| 5th | animate objects, insect plague |
Courtier of Cutlery
At 3rd level when you join this College you gain proficiency with martial weapons and Cook's Utensils; and can use Cook's Utensils as your spellcasting focus instead of a musical instrument. Additionally, you have advantage on Charisma checks to convince an establishment with a kitchen to allow you access to said kitchen.
Chantey Chef
At 3rd level when you join this College, while performing your Song of Rest you also can prepare a small meal for you and your party, provided you have your Cook's Utensils and ingredients. You can roll your Song of Rest die twice instead of once per short rest. Creatures that do not regain hit points from your Song of Rest may instead eat the meal you prepared to gain temporary hit points equal to the amount rolled for Song of Rest; these temporary hit points last until your next rest. Creatures such as constructs, other than Warforged, and certain undead that cannot metabolize food cannot benefit from this feature.
Master Butcher
At 6th level your knowledge of creature anatomy grants you insight into how best to butcher your quarry. Whenever you make a Survival check to harvest parts or ingredients from a creature, except for constructs, you can roll a die equal to your Bardic Inspiration and add it to the roll.
Secret Ingredient
At 6th level you take the saying "you are what you eat" as a culinary challenge. Whenever you make a meal from a creature you've harvested from you can expend a spell slot, up to 5th level, to imbue the meal with the Traits of that creature. Expending a higher level spell slot grants the benefits of that level and each level below it. A creature that consumes this meal gains the corresponding Traits for 8 hours or until they complete a long rest and cannot benefit from this feature again until the previous effects have faded. You may only choose 1 creature's Traits to grant for each meal. If the creature did not have any related Traits as suggested by a certain level, the consumers gain no benefit from that level.
- 1st level: You gain all senses the creature had. This might include senses like Darkvision, Blind Sight, Tremor Sense, etc. You would also gain Feats like Keen Sight, Smell or Hearing.
- 2nd level: You gain all movement methods the creature had. If the creature had a flying speed due to wings, you gain a flying(hover) speed. The speed(s) are equal to the creature's speed(s); however the maximum speed of each movement method cannot exceed your movement speed(s) nor can your speed(s) be lowered by this feature.
- 3rd level: You gain all damage resistances the creature had. If the creature only had damage immunities, you gain resistance to it's immunities instead.
- 4th level: You gain all Feats the creature had. This might include Feats like Siege Monster, Magic Resistance, etc. However you would not gain a creature's Innate Spellcasting.
- 5th level: Your unarmored AC becomes equal to the creatures if it had Natural Armor unless your current AC would be better and all of your Ability Scores become equal to the creature's up to a maximum of 22. Your Ability Scores cannot be lowered by this feature.
Bountiful Catering
At 14th level you gain the ability to cast the Heroes' Feast spell as a 1-hour ritual provided you have at least 3 ingredients from single creature you've harvested and the use of your Cook's Utensils. When cast this way, the spell still requires you to have the 1000gp gem-encrusted bowl material component but the ingredients are consumed in place of the bowl and make up the majority of the feast.
When cast this way creatures that consume this Heroes' Feast will also gain the benefits of your Secret Ingredient feature as if you had expended a 5th level spell slot in addition to the spell's normal effects; the benefits of your Secret Ingredient feature when used in tandem with this feature last as long as the effects of Heroes' Feast or until you use the Secret Ingredient feature again. You can cast Heroes' Feast this way once every 48 hours.
