Base Class: Monk
One of the insectoid styles of monk disciplines, the Way of The Spider is a path that masters mobility even more than monks usually do, as well as restraining opponents, all by using their Ki to manifest webbing like the arachnids’ this style is based off of.
Spider Climb
By 3rd level, you have learned to channel your Ki into your limbs in order to replicate a spider’s climbing ability.
As a bonus action, you can spend 1 Ki point to gain a climbing speed equal to your walking speed for 1 minute. You can climb up and adhere to perfectly vertical surfaces with this speed as well as on overhangs and ceilings.
The duration of this climbing speed increases as you reach higher levels in this class: 1 hour at 6th level, 8 hours at 11th level, and is unlimited at 17th level as well as no longer costing Ki points.
Web Strike
Also by 3rd level you have learned to channel your Ki into physical webs that can restrain opponents.
When you hit with a melee attack, you may spend 1 Ki point to attempt a Web Strike. The target must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or become Restrained by webs. Alternatively, you can attempt this Web Strike at range. When you take the Attack action on your turn, you can forgo one of your normal attacks to attempt a Web Strike on a creature within 30 feet. To do so, spend 1 Ki point then perform an unarmed strike as normal except with a range of 30 feet. On a hit, the target takes bludgeoning Unarmed Strike damage as normal and must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or become Restrained by webs if it is large or smaller.
The creature can then spend an action on its turns to perform a Strength saving throw against your Ki save DC, breaking free on a success. If the creature takes fire damage or is otherwise able to ignite the webs on its turn, it has advantage on the Strength saving throw. If the creature takes a cumulative 10 fire damage or the webs remain ignited for a full round, the creature automatically breaks free at the start of its next turn.
Spider Sense
By 6th level, you have learned to channel your Ki into your senses to be able to detect the vibrations of prey much like spiders.
You have Tremorsense out to 30 feet. This range increases to 45 feet at 11th level, and 60 feet at 17th level.
Webbing
By 6th level you have learned to manifest your webs as ropes with your Ki and thus use them in various ways. Choose two of the Web Actions below. You gain another option at 11th level, and another at 17th level.
You may also perform other feats with your webbing at your DM’s discretion, such as creating nets or ropes, or pulling around objects outside of combat. Generating small amounts of webs may have no cost, however any significant amount of webbing will cost Ki points, again at your DM’s discretion.
In all cases, any webbing that would be leftover dissipates after 1 hour.
Web Catch
As a reaction when you or another large or smaller creature or object within 60 feet of you falls, you can spend 2 Ki points to catch them or yourself. If you catch yourself, there must be a solid surface within 60 feet for you to tether the other end of your webbing to. You can use this feature to catch heavier creatures or objects but must succeed on a Strength saving throw to do so, the DM deciding the DC based on the weight of the object. At 17th level, the range you can catch from/tether to increases to 120 feet and this action only costs 1 Ki point.
Web Fling
If there is an unsecured Large or smaller object or creature within 30 feet of you, you may spend 2 Ki points as an action to attempt to throw that object or creature into another object or creature (or surface) within 30 feet of you using your webbing. Both targets must make a Dexterity saving throw; objects or surfaces automatically fail. On a failure from both targets, they each take 4 martial arts dice of bludgeoning damage and the flung target is moved to an unoccupied space within 5 feet of the struck target (or a point of your choosing if targeting a surface). On a success from the aimed-at target, that target takes no damage but the flung target still takes 4 martial arts dice of bludgeoning damage as they impact into the surface the other target is standing on, and is moved to an unoccupied space within 5 feet of them. On a success from the to-be-flung target, nothing happens. At 17th level, the range you can Web Fling from/to increases to 60 feet and this action only costs 1 Ki point.
Web Swing
As a bonus action, you may spend 2 Ki points to move up to your movement speed in any direction (including vertically) provided that there is a solid surface within 60 feet of both you and the destination for your webbing to attach to. At 17th level, the distance you can move and required range for a surface both double and this action only costs 1 Ki point.
Web Tether
As a reaction when you perform a ranged Web Strike, you may spend 2 Ki points to force the target to succeed on a Strength saving throw or be pulled up to 30 feet in a straight line in a direction of your choosing, provided there is a solid surface at their destination for you to attach your webbing to. This includes being able to web a target to a ceiling or suspend them from one. If the target would strike a creature or object in this movement, it must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or both take 1 martial arts die of bludgeoning damage for every 10ft the creature has moved. At 17th level, the distance you can pull a creature increases to 60 feet and this action only costs 1 Ki point.
Spider Climber
At 6th level your Spider Climb feature now lasts for 1 hour.
Web Weaver
By 11th level, you have learned to form your webs into not only ropes but large masses, able to launch a burst of them to restrain opponents.
As an action, you can spend 2 Ki points to cast the Web spell. When you do, you can choose to spend more Ki points to increase its effective range. Every 2 additional Ki points increases the size of the cube by 5 feet on all sides.
You can perform this action a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier, regaining all expended uses on a long rest.
Improved Spider
At 11th level you now have Tremorsense out to 45 feet and your Spider Climb lasts for 8 hours. You also learn another Web Action from your Webbing feature.
True Spider
By 17th level, you have truly mastered the use of your webs and climbing abilities.
You can now permanently use your Spider Climb feature for an unlimited amount of time without spending Ki points.
Furthermore, you learn your final Web Action from your Webbing feature. The range of all your Web Actions also double and their Ki point costs halve, as specified in their descriptions.
